I would recommend this book for a younger, lower readin g level audience. If you are interested in becoming more informed on what snakes are than this would be an ideal book for you. Some interesting facts that you would come across when reading this book are, there is an estimated 400 different species of snakes in the world, there are no snakes native to Greenland or New Zealand, and a snake's left lung is far too small to even work. All in all this book is one hardcore book. ROCK AND ROLL BEN O.

This book is filled with incredible pictures and information. We read a page or two at the time. It does talk a bit out mating, but nothing heavy - appropriate for my 4 year old with a few word substitutions/skips. Fabulous pictures and a wealth of information. Definitely for the snake lover - pictures are very real.

my four year old son is so into snakes that we had to get him this book. It's great. There are a few photos of snakes eating other animals but we didn't think it too gory. Lots of great snake facts.

Snakes is a great book with alot of good information. The purpose of this book is to teach the reader about snakes in general. It tells you about the different types of snakes, where they live, what they eat, and alot of other fun facts.

The book Snakes is full of close up colorful and beautiful pictures of snakes in their habitat. I would recommend this book to anyone beacause of the great info this book gives about snakes.

A Kid's Review on March 21, 2005
Format: Paperback
The purpose of snakes is to inform the reader about, you guessed it, snakes. This is written on a reading level high enough that it is not boring for the older reader, yet it's easily understandable for the young reader.

I loved this book. It taught me a lot I did not know about snakes. I already knew the basic facts about snakes, but I found I was learning a lot more than I thought I would.

Did you know that, if threatened, a king cobra can look a full-grown man in the eye, and they have enough venom to kill an elephant?

Did you know that some snakes can crawl at speeds of around 15 mph?

I would reccomend snakes to anyone who wants to learn more about the cold blooded reptiles who have sparked fear and curiosity in generations of animal lovers around the world.

This book is an undeniable 5 stars.
