Each entry is accompanied by colour photographs and, where appropriate, distribution maps. A key feature of the text is the "gee whiz" spreads which answer many of the most commonly asked questions about why snakes and other reptiles do what they do, revealing interesting facts and practical information for the amateur enthusiast. In addition, fact panels interspersed througout the book highlight surprising snippets of information. The aim of the book is to heighten the reader's interest in the natural world.

this book is wonderful for someone who wants to take a career in herpeotology, or just interested in snakes and herpeto's ( reptiles). I love Australia, and plan to move there, and with this book it really helps to find out more.
