And packaged with each kit is a Lucky Mojo Doll, which can be used as a Voodoo doll or as a mojo charm.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Greetings!

I'm Dr Snake, a conjure man living on the eastside of paradise, in a rainbow land where a hoodoo sun shines and a mojorain falls.

My Spellbook - which you may be considering ordering - is a book of folk magic, or "hoodoo" as it is called in the American South. It also draws on magical elements from Voodoo, Santeria, and Macumba, all of which have their roots in Africa.

The book gets you started in casting spells that will help you gain money and prosperity, love and sex, and health and well-being. You will also be empowered to bring back a lost lover, repel enemies and avert the evil eye. I give clear instruction on how to use roots, potions, and herbal baths; how to construct Voodoo dolls and lucky mojo talismans; and how to set up a simple altar.

But it isn't just a cookbook in hoodoo sorcery. It's a book full of anecdotes concerning the adventures I had with my mentor, Earl Marlowe, a hoodooist and blues singer, who instructed me in the art of conjure.

Anyway, If you do decide to order my Spellbook I truly hope you will not only enjoy it, but will recognise that reality is not as it seems and that, in a certain sense, at least, anything is possible.

May Love, Peace & Happiness be yours...

Doktor Snake. The Name with No Man.

More About the Author

Cult author and living urban legend, Doktor Snake is a rare and unique individual. He makes his living and supports his family entirely from magickal services.

No day job. No royalties from books (he burns them). He sells spells. Pure and simple. He's a purveyor of magic and sorcery. Just like the old hoodoo doctors in the deep south used to do - and the cunning men of old.

Doktor Snake makes money as a real magickian.

Doktor Snake is the author of the cult bestseller Doktor Snake's Voodoo Spellbook (St. Martin's Press). And as Jimmy Lee Shreeve he has penned How To Be Famous (Orion), Mary Jane's Hash Brownies (Cico), Blood Rites (Arrow), Cannibals (John Blake) and Human Sacrifice (Barricade). He is based in London, England.

"Doktor Snake's Voodoo Spellbook" contains spells and charms you can do for yourself...

...But he is here to help you - IF you can find him.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Voodoo / Hoodoo Introduction & Application, April 18, 2003
This review is from: Dr. Snake's Voodoo Spellbook (Hardcover)
This is a fascinating introduction to Voodoo / Hoodoo, with practical application of various techniques--spells, curses, folk magick--for anyone interested in the subject.

This book provides a very subtle, yet exciting introduction to Southern style Voodoo / Hoodoo (not the Religion of "Voodou").

I read this book in one sitting, and could not put it down. This small coffee-table style book is packed with short spells and stories that explain the subject in a very concise and entertaining manner. At-first, it seems like the book & voodoo doll is a quaint gift set, but the feel of the book and the writings within are inspiring and conducive to comprehending a general overview of Southern Voodoo / Hoodoo.

New Orleans style Voodoo is the foundation of the book and it contains a brief introduction to many aspects of Voodoo / Hoodoo.

Aside from the great Spells, I particularly enjoyed the section about reading Playing Cards as Tarot cards. Historically, "playing cards" derived from Tarot cards, so this is quite practical. The meanings of each card, in a typical card deck are given, listing the correspondences, per each suit.

If you enjoy the section about playing cards as much as I did, you can purchase the following beautiful standard deck to begin using the techniques, per Doktor Snake....then, work your way up to the correspondences in the lovely book that comes with the card deck: "The Fortune Teller's Deck: Predict Your Future With Playing Cards," by Jane Lyle (ISBN # 0312136684). This deck has a particularly good feel and look for a Gypsy or Voodoo / Witchcraft practitioner--with an Antiqued style.

Keep in mind that "Doktor Snake's Voodoo Spellbook: Spells, Curses and Folk Magic for All Your Needs," by Doktor Snake, is a general overview of the subject and a personal account thereof....yet, it is a fascinating little book, packed with Spells, ideas, stories, inspiration and is well-worth the price.

I am very pleased with this book and it inspired me to research further. However, if you want in-depth research, I suggest "Voodou Visions." Don't pass-up Doktor Snake's book, though--it is worth owning just for the "playing card" Tarot correspondences!

i absolutely adore this book!!!

It is a bit non-traditional, and may even seem fantasy based.....

But it is very inspiring, and i will say from personal experience that some of the spell work in this book has
worked for "me"..........

It is simple to understand, enchanting, and keeps you on the edge of your seat..........

i read it straight thru =)

4.0 out of 5 stars Well... I liked It!, May 14, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Dr. Snake's Voodoo Spellbook (Hardcover)
And I am an old Mage, I do have a neat first edition and came across it last year sometime and I think it is an important piece of Voodoo culture.. Doctor Snake marvelously disguised this book so that children and young sojourners would be only able to pluck from this delightful Tome`simple basic Rituale`s and Ceremonie`s to protect them from getting in over their heads. However those that are better versed in the old Traditions will garner many more nuances from this synchretic Voodoo and realize that some of the so-called simple aspects of Ritualism are incredibly important to be able to gain the understanding of the many Mysteries and secret understandings within this seemingly entertaining book. This book has many basic foundations that are the building blocks for any Rituale` in the Cosmos, from here you can go anywhere. It is also important to have the right preparation, practice and developed PSI conscious of the mind to be able to harness the stronger powers of the Lwa. And I like the story... And I am avidly looking for Hoodoo-Conjuration-Witchcraft-Rootwork by Harry M Hyatt...
