Excellent swappable bay,

This review is from: Snap-in Mobile Rack for 3.5 Sata HDD with Sata Interface (Personal Computers)
This drive bay is excellent.. Instead of cracking open your case to swap drives, simply open the door.
The only caveats are that the fan runs regardless of if there's a drive or not, and is of questionable value to begin with. The SATA/power connector on the computer side is a little weak, so don't wiggle cables too much or you risk breaking the plastic. But, once installed, it works as advertised!

Sata 3.5 Hard Drive Mobile Rack,

This review is from: Snap-in Mobile Rack for 3.5 Sata HDD with Sata Interface (Personal Computers)
I've use mobile racks for ATA drives for many years, and, knew that they came in various levels of sturdiness and quality.
Needing a SATA mobile rack, I purchased this one sight unseen.I was delighted on receipt as the drive rack was very well made, very easy to install. Unlike older mobile racks where you needed to have a separate internal carriage for each drive, this unit does not require an internal carriage for each hard drive that is being used. If you need a SATA mobile rack I recommend this one for both quality and value

PROS:
--Easy to install. --Hard drive easily slides in or is easily removed. --No-fuss locking front door. --Keyed lock in the "unlocked" position disables all power to mobile rack if you don't always want to use it. I like this feature the most. CONS: --No cables included. --Little fan in rear does a poor job of keeping the hard drive cool. Don't know why they even bothered to build it in. This is a quality piece of equipment with a totally useless fan. --Rear SATA port is not designed for SATA data cables that have a locking metal latch. You can push the SATA cable into the port, but there's no place for the locking latch to "catch". As a result, all SATA cables could wiggle loose and disconnect if bumped while servicing the inside of your computer.

The drive bay is exactly like the one I replace only the fan spins in this one. The previous drive bay's fan died. To install the new one I unplugged two cables, released the latches and out it came. I did the reverse with the new drive bay. Once installed in the tower, I slid a hard drive into it, closed the door and badda boom, badda bing...it worked. The hard drive spun up and the fan went round and round.
Done deal.

We use these thruout the college I work at; this is why I purchased one for my home. It works great and is very quiet considering it has a cooling fan built in.
Perfect for changing out OS's or using as a backup device.

I have 5 of these racks in my computers and they work and work and work with out any problems.
The first 2 I bought from the vendor you put the HD in and close the latch and every thing works, the last 3 I got I had to lock the latch before the HD would work which is better for hot swapping when you unlock, the drive shuts down. They are also great if you don't want to duel boot you can switch drives with different systems.

I've installed this in my late-model (last month) HP. Had to do some minor trimming of the front panel where tabs held the filler in place, but not a big deal. This seems quite well made and has a substantial front door. I've yet to buy an additional drive to use with this, but I like it.
