These have been just great - we've been using two of the 28-piece sets for about two years. They are very sturdy and have held up really well. They stack nicely in the fridge, allowing really efficient storage of leftovers. A couple of notes though... We don't run them through the dishwasher hot dry cycle. High heat will warp them over time and the snap seals become a bit harder to close. For the same reason we don't reheat in the microwave with the lids on, or let the reheat go on forever. I think that's why we've never had any staining problems with them either. In any case, they are a good sturdy product and we love them!

This Snapware 38-Piece storage container set is a low cost version of the higher quality (and more expensive) Lock & Lock storage containers. The Snapware is made of fairly sturdy BPA free polypropylene (i.e., plastic) that has a good durable feel to it. It is pretty much a copy of the Lock & Lock design with four locking snaps on each side of the container. The hinges of the Snapware snaps appear to be fairly thin but so far none of the snaps have broken off. The Snapware seals protrude out of a J-shaped channel and some of the seals were loose in the box. Despite this, they seem to seal when snapped down.

Now, on to the 38 piece feature. As you know that includes lids so you actually have 19 containers. In my opinion, of these 19, the five little round containers are useless. They are too small. The two red seal square containers are also too small to be useful. That leaves 12 useful containers. The biggest container is nice and I also like the two containers which are divided into two compartments. But here's the big selling point...you can't beat this price for 12 useful locking containers. You can easily spend as much on two or three Lock & Lock containers. So I am giving the Snapware four stars with the caveat that if the snaps start breaking off, I will update my review and decrease the rating.

I fell in love with Snapware when I bought a 28-piece set at Costco. I bought two more sets as gifts for friends and began recommending it to fellow Costco shoppers so strongly that they thought I was on commission. The airtight bins keep things amazingly fresh, the rectangular design wastes no refrigerator space, and the multiple sizing fit every storage-size need (okay, I bought two more sets including the large storage bins).

But then came the morning after: Stubborn mold can set in under the silicon seals and takes overnight soaking in bleach to remove it, sometimes imperfectly. After a year, the flaps on the most-used sizes (2.5 liters) began to tear off from the sides because the flap "hinge" is a razor-thin piece of plastic. The company replaced them after I mailed them back with an explanatory letter, but this requires keeping the receipts as proof-of-purchase, going to the Post Office and waiting in line, then hoping that Snapware receives them; or else buying a new set just for the two containers that wore out. And now I have lost one of my receipts. The gift sets to friends fared no better: one hinge was so ill-fitted that it broke with the first use even when the lid was properly positioned. The glass-bottomed sets seem to have thicker hinges and have held up well so far when used very carefully, but this may be due to less frequent usage. I have had to mail back four lids since my first 2008 purchase, and have at least two more broken ones ready-to-mail, which is a nuisance. It's a little bit like buying those 8-year warranty batteries at Pep Boys that last 3.5 years but they sucker you to buy another one that does no better because they give you a "credit" for the 4.5 years that you otherwise lose.

"Pantry Moths" seem to love the part of the country we live in, and it's been a forever battle keeping them out of just about every kind of dry food product you can imagine. I'd tried all kinds of plastic containers over the years that supposedly 'seal', but nothing worked. And then I found Snapware! These containers seal tighter than anything I've used before, and in the past year that I've been using them, I haven't had a single problem with the moths getting into the food inside. I have several large containers for things like pasta, bisquick, and saltines, and two sets of the smaller ones for everything from corn starch to cocoa. The added bonus I discovered in the process is that not only do they keep the bugs out, they also look neat and organized in my pantry. I definitely give Snapware containers a two thumbs up! :-)

I purchased these from somewhere else. First, for those who don't know, it's not 38 containers. It's 19 containers and 19 lids. Second, for those who like to complain, it does have some very small containers that hold things like sauces and smaller amounts. HOWEVER, it very clearly states the amount they hold. In my opinion people should not be complaining about the smaller sized containers. So, now my beef with these containers. I own lock n locks and have for years. These do not compare with them:

The containers themselves are not as study. --- while they are much heavier then glads, hefty and rubber maid, they aren't the quality of lock n lock. My lock n locks will not warp in my dish washer. Some of these have begun to warp. The rectangle ones are more prone to warping.

The lids are definitely not the quality of lock n lock. ----- Most of the containers do not fully seal air tight.. The smaller ones are better. Bigger ones will leak. I submerged them underwater for 5 minutes to test them to see if they will make it in a cooler. 14 of them leaked water.

The hinges on the lids are thiner then lock n lock. I have already snapped off one hinge. My lock n locks has stood the test of five years of abuse and constant use with no breakage.

Here are the sizes and description taken directly from Walmarts site: **** indicate my experience and remarks
