Book Description

August 30, 2011
SOPHIE BARRETT THINKS SHE’S LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. SHE MAY BE DEAD WRONG.

On a sweltering summer afternoon, Sophie Barrett walks into a nightmare. A sniper has opened fire on a college campus. When the carnage is over, three people—plus the shooter—are dead and dozens more are injured. Sophie escapes virtually unscathed. Yet as details emerge from the investigation, she becomes convinced that this wasn’t the random, senseless act it appeared to be. No one wants to believe her—not the cops, not her colleagues at the Delphi Center crime lab, and definitely not Jonah Macon, the homicide detective who’s already saved her life once.

Jonah has all kinds of reasons for hoping Sophie is mistaken. Involving himself with a key witness could derail an already messy investigation, not to mention jeopardize his career. But Sophie is as determined and fearless as she is sexy. If he can’t resist her, he can at least swear to protect her. Because if Sophie is right, she’s made herself the target of a killer without a conscience. And the real terror is only just beginning. . . .

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, NOT Ms. Griffin's best! September 6, 2011
By tx cook
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
First let me start out by saying I am a huge fan of Laura Griffin. She doesn't "fluff" her stories. The characters are real and seem normal everyday types. SHe has alot of action and generally good romance.
This one has been my least favorite. Sophie is a little weak in my mind and her love interest is more worried about keeping her tucked away than solving the crime.
I will continue to buy her books...

5.0 out of 5 stars Snapped August 31, 2011
By Jess
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Talk about starting out with action right from the start. Sophie is on her way to sign up for college classes to help enhance her resume in the hopes of getting a promotion at the Delphi Center from receptionist into their PR department. As she makes her way across campus a gunman opens fire into the crowd of students and faculty. People are scrambling to get out of the way, and as Sophie finds a hiding spot, she sees a pregnant woman who was hit and lay dying while her young daughter sits there watching and crying. For as many great scenes and moments that are in this book, that's one that will stick with me. The initial randomness of the shooting is quickly investigated and Sophie's certain that more people were behind this than just the shooter, who killed himself once the cops located him on campus.

Jonah's on the case and his protective streak is running high with Sophie being caught in the middle. We first got a little bit of their story in UNFORGIVABLE, book 3 in the Tracers series, and we find out that their relationship never really got off the ground, so to speak. But the sparks are definitely there and as the case unfolds and Sophie finds herself looking over her shoulder at every turn, Jonah's there to make sense of the clues that are coming in and help Sophie stay safe.

The pacing of the story was fantastic. It starts out with a bang and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. It's a great blend of action/suspense balanced so well with Sophie and Jonah's relationship. It never felt overloaded with action, but when the enemy attempted to tie up all the loose ends (aka Sophie) to complete his mission, I felt right in the middle of the scenes with Sophie as she dealt with all the craziness happening in her life.

I first met Jonah and Sophie in Unforgivable and there was some definite sparks there so I couldn't wait to read their story. I was also very intrigued by the school shooting premise. The whole time I was reading, I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next--I wasn't sure where the author will take the story especially after the shooter shot himself in chapter three. But take it she did and after the highly charged beginning, I was at the edge of my seat the whole entire time.

The characters (main and secondary) were fantastic. But the character that stood out for me was Sophie who was very smart, stubborn and independent. Usually, stubborn and independent heroines tend to irritate me because most knowingly put themselves into stupid situations. Not Sophie. Danger seemed to find her. This girl went through a lot--from being being abducted in Unforgivable to being caught in the middle of a school shooting to realizing that someone was trying to kill her (after she was ran off a cliff and narrowly escaping her car in which the villain had planted a bomb). I knew and understood where she was coming from and why she did what she did. Jonah was great as well and he had his own issues, mainly fighting his intense attraction to Sophie who was convinced that the shooter may have an accomplice. He knew what Sophie had gone through and he didn't want to take advantage of her. She was also a key witness in his case. There is a reason why Ms. Griffin is my go-to author for romantic suspense and it's because she can write a darn good romance amid all the action and suspense--she balances the suspense and the romance so well. There was great chemistry between Sophie and Jonah.

and doesn't let up. Sophie and Jonah are my favorite hero and heroine in a long time. They are well suited for each other and compliment the story. Loved the intense danger in this one. A very good read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay characters, plot moves slowly after opening March 14, 2013

Most of the main characters didn't really have a personality. The story moved pretty slowly. More romance than necessary. Villain wasn't a character in the story until the end. Over all only okay.

5.0 out of 5 stars SNAPPED by Laura Griffin September 24, 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I'm like a lot of other people who say, "You MUST read Laura Griffin." SNAPPED is out of this world with thrills and chills and fabulous romance. It starts out with a bang--a sniper has opened fire on a college campus and three are dead, plus the shooter and dozens wounded. Sophie Barrett who works for the Delphi Center Crime Lab happened to be on the scene as she was going to register for some classes that day. Sophie is convinced that it isn't just a random act but no one believes her - not the cops, not her co-workers.

Jonah Macon, a detective is hoping Sophie is wrong about seeing someone else riding in the shooter's car. Also, he doesn't want to get involved with a witness either. Needless to say, Sophie is quite the looker with a body that knocks Jonah's eyes out. Sophie is determined as well as fearless and gets herself and Jonah into all sorts of compromising situations that makes her a target for the people who started everything in the first place. This book will keep you hanging by the fingernails. All the characters are finely drawn; the plot is mind boggling and keeps you turning the pages as fast as you can. Sophie and Jonah are dynamite. I wish I had a Jonah Macon to protect me! If you see a book by Laura Griffin grab it fast and start reading!
