I've completed the eagerly awaited "Snapped" and I was elated with the outcome. There's glittery storytelling and well-crafted scenes filled with true raw emotion.

The women of "Snapped" are all fierce in their own right. Camille, Misa, Dominique and Latoya all possess beauty, intellect and have ascertained a certain level of success. Each woman is resilient and determined to live life to the fullest until one of them reaches their breaking point and "snaps".

Camille and her husband, Frankie appears to have it all: money, prestige and power. However, Frankie spends the majority of his time with Gillian, the beautiful daughter of his beloved mentor, Nobles. He claims they're merely friends and business associates, however, Camille believes otherwise. She's petrified of losing her husband to another woman. Powerless and unwilling to give Frankie up, Camille begins to unravel and there's no telling what she'll do in order to salvage her marriage.

Misa, the younger sister of Camille, is dense when it comes to men. The mother of three year old, Shane, she's enthusiastic to resort back to the single life. Now that she's divorced, she's looking for Mr. Right and fixated on living lavishly. As soon as she spots Baron, Misa immediately believes he's the answer to her prayers. She begins ditching her parental responsibilities to chase after the aloof, Baron. Misa soon discovers that she may have bit off more than she can chew.

Dominique, also a single parent, is dealing with issues of her own. She's madly in love with Jamel, a street hustler who's presently incarcerated. No matter what her friends and family have stated, Dominique refuses to abandon Jamel. Unfortunately, she's too preoccupied to realize that her teenage daughter, Octavia, is blossoming into womanhood sadly without the much needed guidance of her mother.

Something or someone eerie is lurking in Latoya's life yet she refuses to acknowledge the demon she's been avoiding. Will this outspoken and thorny woman finally lose control for once in her life?

The plot, although mildly dramatic, was brilliant. The lives of each of the female characters were noticeably interesting as well as convincing. The ending is startling (even displeasing) and unfortunately, readers will have to wait in order to discover what becomes of Camille, Misa, Dominique and Latoya.

I believe a five star rating for "Snapped" is justified. Ms. Brown has written a story that is true to herself as well as her adoring fans.

Now I'm a huge Tracy Brown fan. White Lines, Criminal Minded, Black (those are 3 of my favs) but Snapped fell short to me. Out of Misa, Chamile, Toya, and Dominique only Chamille's situation was even halfway entertaining. Misa and her situation with her son was predictable. I saw the abuse through the entire book. I feel like this book is a precursor for a sequel which could prove to be quite juicy but I still expect the set-up to be just as good. This book was repetitive and boring in a lot of places, especially when being compared to her other page turners. And Gillian and Frankie were just quite disgusting. IDK, wasn't really feeling this read at all. It did not have that usual Tracy Brown stamp IMHO. Hopefully her next book will fill in the blanks for all the secrets that were setup in this one. We shall see.

Snapped is Ms Brown highly anticipated new novel. Snapped is a fast paced highly intensified drama. Snapped has several key players that are all intertwined by Love, Lust and Friendship. Camille is happily married to Frankie Bingham but Frankie has some harbored feeling for his long time friend Gillian. When tragedy strikes and Frankie makes some earth shatter realizations will Camile be able to hold to her husband and Marriage, or will she snap under the pressure.

Misa, Camile's newly divorced and extremely naive sister when it comes to the opposite sex. In her pursuit of Barron one of Frankie's long time friends, she mistaken allows a predator into her home. When the she is faced with some devastating news will she be able to handle it or will she snap under the pressure.

Dominique, is well put together on the outside but on the inside she is struggling trying to manage a household and maintain her relationship with her incarcerated boyfriend. In the meantime her daughter is growing up with her other obligations blind to her to her daughters actions and while she is holding her boyfriend down is he staying true to her. When everything reaches a head. Will she hold it together or will she snap under the pressure and then finally we have LaToya who seems to be well adjusted but when the skeletons begin to jump out of the closet how will will she be able to hold it together.

Okay I got this book on Tuesday and finished it Tuesday. Ms Brown has done it again. I would recommend this books to any and everyone. If your ready for a heart wrenching, emotional and unpredictable read . This is definitely for you. I give it five stars all day! Can not wait for the sequel!

4.0 out of 5 stars Snap...Snapping...Snapped!, February 14, 2010
This review is from: Snapped: A Novel (Paperback)
Tracy Brown pens a novel that indulges four friends from New York. Although they are very much different they are very much the same. For they have to be in order to withstand one another's company. Perhaps the commonality will be the race they will endure....to see who will be the first to... Snap!

Meet Latoya...cold...colder...coldest...what is she hiding...what are her fears.....why can't she trust anyone...and will she ever learn that because she thinks it...she doesn't have to say it! Now,when things come to fruition ...will she Snap?

Dominique Storms...Sauvé in clothes, job, and wanting the best for her child, however, she lacks good judgment when it comes to her choice of men and maternal instincts...what will cause her... to Snap?

Camille Bingham...what does a woman gain when she loses her soul....or rather gives her soul away until she has nothing left to give herself...let alone her husband ...Frankie B. ...who doesn't know how to treat a woman who has literally lost her own identity to booster him up....whether legally or illegally....the question becomes....not when will they Snap...but how will they survive the Snapping?

Mesa, who has no problem in attracting men.....but can she keep them?...and if so....at what price?...what or whom does she sacrifice?...herself?...her self-esteem?...or Oh Snap!... her child???

Tracy Brown is a good writer. This story keeps the reader wanting to turn the page and see what exactly is going to happen next. She has good verbiage...a good plot....and the reader has good insight into the characteristics of each character, however, just when the book takes off...and the readers interest is definitely piqued.....the book ends! Stay tune for part two. Now part two wouldn't be such a bad idea ....had the author closed some of the many plots that were left wide open...or even if at the end of the book...it would... somewhere... inform the reader that there will be a part two. Many readers weren't even aware that this book would have a sequel to it....thus causing many readers to say....what just happened here?

However, Ms. Brown has been in the game long enough for this reader to know that she will definitely bring it in her next installment of Snapped. So, until such time we the readers' anxiously await for the completion...to an otherwise good story. Hoping that in the sequel it doesn't take too long to get the story started.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read, February 1, 2010
This review is from: Snapped: A Novel (Paperback)
This book, for me was good. I am a fan of Tracy Brown. I LOVED White Lines but you can't compare the two. White Lines, to me, was fantastic. I truthfully got all of my co-workers (even a guy) to read and love that book. Born and Jada. Snapped was interesting. I am mad at the ending, however. It will leave you hanging and wondering what happened to Octavia? what happened when Camille went to see Frankie and Gillian? what about Misa and her son Shane? I can only assume there will be a part 2. Out of the four friends, I am baffled by the sisters-Camille and Misa. But, it is definitely a page turner and will keep you reading, for no other reason, than to find out what's going to happen next. I would recommend this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars All That Glitters Ain't Gold...., January 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Snapped: A Novel (Paperback)
These four sistergirls may look like gold on the outside but the inside...my,my,my....

Camille,an ex model is now a stay at home wife that has lost herself. She spends most of her time trying to portray a perfect marriage she has with Frankie B,a major player in the Nobles family...trying to justify to herself and others that Gillian Nobles,Frankie's BFF,are only friends...reminiscing and drinking...Frankie takes care of her but is too selfish to let her know that he loves her but he's not 'in love' with her.

Misa is Camille's recently divorced sister and mother of little Shane....she will go to any lengths to be on the arm of a man, especially the arm of Baron Nobles...those lengths will not only change her life but the lives of others around her forever.

Latoya,a successful real estate agent who is outspoken but strong...she seems to be able to speak on everyone else's drama but she is tight lipped about her own...there are skeletons in her hall closet that she refuses to reveal, share and deal with.

Dominique,a top A&R person for a very prominent recording company, that has climbed the ladder of success in spite of being a single teen age mother...lost in her own world she's lost Octavia, her teen age daughter, and is desperately in search for her.

This read like all of Ms.Brown's others started out slow for me but picked up and took off... just when it had me on the edge of my seat...it ended...The ending could have been different...it could have closed more than just the one (Steven) storyline she had going...Too much repetitive background info on the characters as they appeared...I feel Ms. Brown has a fan base that would purchase her read just on the strength of her storytelling...she did not have to leave this book this wide open for a sequel or future sales...whichever the case is...JMO.

These four women have their own reasons for losing it..follow them and see whose story would make a good episode for Snapped, the TV show.

4* rating.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 Stars, January 25, 2010
This review is from: Snapped: A Novel (Paperback)
Tracy Brown is my favorite author and White Lines is hands down my favorite novel! I have anticipated the release of Snapped for about 6 months and after reading can say that it did not interest me as her previous books did. There was no likeable character in the story which made it hard to relate or feel emphaty to anyone's situation. Frankie/Gillian/Camille storyline a bore. Frankie and Gillian's point of view came off as trying to convince the readers that what they where doing was innocent and they were simply friends, when it was so much more. Just because they didn't actually sleep together doesn't mean he wasn't betraying his marriage. The whole scene when he broke up with Camille was cowardly and such a punk move. And Gillian's arrogance of her friendship was a joke. The only reason you had a problem with Camille is because she married the man you wanted, but that was who Frankie chose to love, Camille never tricked Frankie into anything. Also Camille, where was the drive, ambition, something.. she was defined by marriage and had no life outside of it by choice. She was a doormat in her own home and let her husband, brother and law and sister take advantage of that but at the same time thought her situation was better than those around her.
Dominique/Ocatavia - how could such a successful woman be so ignorant to her actions affecting her child. You run around chasing and hoping you can change a man in jail with no job and money and what do you think your daughter sees and would model after.
Toya-just a hard shell, too much to there was no bending with her
Misa- bad mom, parenting is never-ending and you can't take off because the other decided to do so.. she abandoned her son the same way the father did, and with how easily it was for the dad to take the son at the end i'm not sure if it was his doing to stay away from his son or more of Misa's pride that he had moved on. Predictable about the brother in law molesting her son, could see that miles away. The only people who couldnt was the ones so wrapped up in their own lives that it went unnoticed by plenty of adults.

The ending wasn't much of one which i dont mind if she uses the second installment to clean and clear up the first one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Appearances Can Be Deceiving!, April 14, 2011
This review is from: Snapped: A Novel (Paperback)
I will admit that Snapped wasn't as juicy as other Tracy Brown novels, but it was still a decent read. Each woman in the store was "pretending" to be in control of their lives, but behind closed doors truths were revealed.

Take Camille for instance.....she shouted out to the world how wonderful it was to be married to Frankie B. What's not to love about her life, she did not have to work, she lived in a lavish house, all of the finest clothes, and money at her disposal....but what she failed to tell everyone was her husband was spending more and more time away from home.

Camille's sister Misa, a newly divorced, single parent was living the life. She vowed the next time she got married it would be for money, power, and status and not love. Baron was the perfect catch, but what would she have to lose in order to gain entry into his world?

Dominique is a successful AR at Def Jam Records. She is a single-parent of a daughter and the apple of her father's eye. On the exterior, sister girl has it going on, but behind closed doors, she is trying desperately to maintain a relationship with her incarcerated boyfriend. While she focuses all of her attention on her man, she is losing sight on what is going on with her daughter.

LaToya takes no mess from nobody. She have men that satisfies all of her needs. But, why can't she be happy and freely love one man? What does "Nate" have to do with her inability to commit?

Decent read, but I hate sequels. I wish authors would learn how to wrap their stories up. If the readers request a demand for more, then write more. Sequels seem to be an common trend for writers now. Please stop this madness.

4.0 out of 5 stars Snapped, July 8, 2010
This review is from: Snapped: A Novel (Paperback)
I like how Tracy gave a little background from the previous book since it's been awhile since I read White Lines, it refreshed my memory who the characters were. It was a page turner from start to finish and the ending was like what! I hope I won't have to wait to long for her next book because there are alot of unanswered questions. Want happens with Misa and Camille's situation, what becomes of Frankie B and Gillian and does Baron take care of the problems he caused. This was a good read and I would recommend it to others.

This review is from: Snapped: A Novel (Paperback)
Let me start of by saying I love Tracy Brown she is one of my favorite authors. I have all her books in my collection so when I heard this one was coming out I was so excited...This book was a total disappointment it was slow from the very beginning and in my opinion never picked up until the very last page. I hope part two is worth the wait I was sick of hearing about Frankie and Gillian they were on my last nerve.
