I think next time I'm gonna get the stuff without the betacaroteen for color I actually use this for cooking too and it colors the food orange.

I know you have heard it before, if you want movie theater popcorn you need this Coconut oil, this really is the secret to great tasting popcorn, I use it in my mini bambino (which looks like a movie theaters popcorn maker but really small) for me and not recommend unless you watch it when you cook it, but I use my measuring scoopers that came with the popcorn popper, this Oil (Its funny when its hot, it is a liquid, when it us under 75-80 degrees it is a solid, but no matter, just scoop it out (I have made about 10-14 poppings and it has only went down about a little over a inch in the tub again for me, I use the 1 scoop of oil (no need to make it a liquid as some people say, when you dump it in, the heat of the pan makes it liquid) then I pour in the scoop of popcorn (Orvil redinbocer (sorry bad spelling) from walmart $4 jar) 1 Tablespoon of butter, a little salt and let it pop, for me it not only smells like th theater, but the taste is great, I pop extra, put it in ziplock bags and take it with me, friends ask for a taste, and before you know it, its gone. Good deal, this tub will last months if not a year.

This oil was excellent. What many people don't know is coconut oil is in a solid state at room temperature. It tastes excellent and the only complaint that I would have is it's tough to get out of the jar when it gets below half full.

Ignore the previous posts about poor quality, ie dried up, etc., they just aren't familiar with coconut oil. It is the best for popcorn hands down. This is the best price you will find for coconut oil...I highly recommend!!!

Buy a gallon of the Snappy popcorn coconut oil, a carton of Flavacol popcorn salt, some premium popcorn (I bought the 12.5lb bag of premium Great Northern) and get back to stove top popping. Anyone who thinks microwave popcorn is good has no idea what they are missing. I put about 4 TBS of the coconut oil, 2 TBS butter & 2 tsp of flavacol popcorn salt all in my largest boiling pot. Crank up the heat to high and melt everything, as soon as the butter in the oil starts to foam a bit, I add about 1/2 cup of popcorn then NEVER stop shaking until it about blows the lid off. Then, rapidly dump all of the popcorn into a large PAPER grocery bag and shake/ toss the hot popcorn in the bag to get all that moisture from the steam out of it. Crispy Crispy. Yum Yum. Once fully cooled I fill zip lock bags with popcorn that keeps for a long time. There's always a bag ready for the kids and it is far healthier than many other snacks they'd get into. Remember, coconut oil is the secret to great popcorn. Coconut oil is solid at temperatures below 76 degrees I believe. When you get the oil, it may be liquid in the summer or solid in the winter. That is just what coconut oil does. Solid like Crisco does not mean it is bad or anything. It is just not above 76 degrees or whatever.

Obviously some of the reviewers don't know what coconut oil is. If it arrived "hard as a rock" it means the air was cold. If it was "semi-liquid" then it was a little warmer in the delivery truck. Coconut oil is generally solid unless you melt it. That said -- I ordered this for popcorn AND for general cooking. I couldn't detect any flavor in it but it did make the popcorn taste good. I used it for cooking and it seems to work well. I was skeptical because it is so much cheaper than other coconut oil which cost generally 50.00 - 60.00 for a gallon. The label doesn't say how it was processed so maybe that's why it is cheaper. Maybe I should care about processing but I'm hoping it doesn't matter that much. The color doesn't matter to me. Hopefully I'll be able to enjoy the benefits of coconut oil without the steep price tags the other brands have. The only negative is the container. It really is hard to get out. I'll be melting it and putting some in a smaller container that will be easier to use. Get it -- try it -- you'll like it!

I bought this coconut oil, not for popcorn, but to add more good fat to my diet. Despite the coloring, which is just beta-carotine (what makes carrots orange) it has a very neutral flavor, which is what I was looking for. It does very well as a substitute for butter or ghee, both of which I am allergic to. I add it to baked potatoes or baked fish, and in the lentil dishes I eat regularly. I did not see any advantages buying extra-virgin or specially processed coconut oil, since coconut oil is a plant based saturated fat and quite stable, even with processing. Overall, I think this is a good deal for those looking for a decent butter substitute or looking to add some safe saturated fats to their diet. Maybe someday I'll try it with popcorn.

If you own a whirlypopper you have to grt this oil... Great buttery movie flavored popcorn. We keep this oil in the frig to keep it solid because it melts easily... A little goes a long way.. We make popcorn about once a week and this container lasted over a year
