A great set for food storage.,
This review is from: Snapware 18pc Glasslock Tempered Glass Storage Containers 18piece Set with Lids (Kitchen)
I own a set of these as well as Pyrex glass storage boxes (a set of 3 square ones, 0.75L, 1.5L and 2.6L). I love them both. The majority of the containers in this set are smaller than the Pyrex ones. When I first saw them in a store, I had thought that they were too small to be useful (I use them to store leftovers), so I bought the Pyrex set instead. After using the Pyrex ones, I found them to be too big often times and hated having them take up rooms in my frig when they are half-empty (they are also heavy on the shelves). I went back to the store soon after to get this set and it's an excellent compliment to my Pyrex set. The glass is heavier than the Pyrex glass. The lids are water-tight while the Pyrex ones are not. They are dishwasher safe. I am so satisfied with them that I gave a set to my mother-in-law. I gave 4 stars because sometimes snapping open or close the lid on the largest size can put strains on my hands.

I've been using these to pack hubby's lunch for years, since the days when you had to find them at the Korean supermarket (sandwiches can go into a Snapware plastic box, but if it's going in the microwave, I'd rather pack it in glass). I have yet to find anything superior.
Snapware is the US distributor, not the manufacturer, but they're not outsourcing to Korea - these were invented for the Korean market (and won an international design award), and Snapware, which makes its plastic ware in the US, decided they couldn't do better. They're providing awesome customer support considering they don't actually make the stuff - I managed to break the lid on one of the boxes, and they sent me a new one with minimal hassles and no questions asked (I sent them a picture of the broken lid via email - how cool is that?). If you're having trouble getting the lids to go on: make sure the gasket is in the right way - they have a rectangular cross-section, not square, and if they get turned the box doesn't close. Some of the older boxes also had two different lid depths, and two gasket thicknesses, and if you mixed them up they didn't seal properly at all, but I think they finally fixed this. (And of course make sure you have the right gasket in the right lid - some sets are color coded by shape - red=round, blue=square, rectangle=green - but some aren't). Besides that, no complaints. I wish they had a deep large round to use as a big noodle bowl (feels funny eating noodles out of a rectangle), or even an actual bowl with the snap-on lid. Given how popular these have become for lunches, maybe they'll expand the line.

I got this set in a great deal for $29.99. must say this set is an excellent addition to my kitchen. I own pyrex 14 piece and 18 piece set too. those are also great but the pyrex lids are not water tight. but glasslock literally locks everything inside and nothing drips out even if you totally invert them...:-)
The best thing is, other than storing my leftovers, I use them for preparations too and also sometimes for serving. They are allrounder. Cons : they are not conventional oven proof as pyrex and also the lids are such super tights that most of the time I have to ask my hubby to close all four sides.lol. overall it is a must have for all the kitchens.

How to close the lids,
This review is from: Snapware 18pc Glasslock Tempered Glass Storage Containers 18piece Set with Lids (Kitchen)
I too love this product. But I couldn't for the life of me close the lids when I first got them. Well, I just got off the phone with Snapware customer service, who were very helpful. They told me to simply flex the latches back and forth a number of times, and this solved the problem. Suddenly, lids that seemed to require superhuman force to close I could close easily.

DANGEROUS!!!,
This review is from: Snapware 18pc Glasslock Tempered Glass Storage Containers 18piece Set with Lids (Kitchen)
I thought that since the glass containers were made out of thick glass that it was a durable, well made product.
I was wrong. If you have already bought the product, read the bottom of the glass container. It states that it is not for oven use. The reason why is because what you have in your hands is NOT a tempered glass product. Non tempered glass will make sharp glass slivers when dropped or will break apart when subject to severe hot or cold temperatures (aka freezer or hot soup). I bought a brand new set of the food containers for my wife recently. She promptly hand washed all the pieces and left them to air dry in the dish rack overnight. When I was putting the containers away in the cabinets the next morning, I noticed a one inch long glass sliver that broke off the narrow upper lip of one of the glass containers. Can you imagine what can happen if this glass sliver went inside some food that could have been left in the container? Needless to say, these containers are going to be returned. Tempered glass is safer glass. It is more rigid and can withstand an occasional bump better than non tempered glass. If you didn't know, all automobile windows and windshields are required to be made of tempered glass. When tempered glass breaks, the broken pieces look more like gravel. Remember what the broken window glass looked like on the street after your car stereo was stolen? I discovered that Pyrex glass storage containers are made of tempered glass. I called their customer service line to verify this. Read the bottom of one of your grandmother's Pyrex storage containers. It reads that it is safe for oven use. However, the problem with many of the Pyrex lids is that they are not leak proof. The customer service rep pointed out that the Pyrex company has recently came out with a special, new line of glass storage containers with better no leak lids. You can read about these on Pyrex's website. Go to Storage - No Leak Lids Storage. You can also read Amazon's customer reviews on other Pyrex food storage containers. I think some of their other lines of containers may have lids that resist leaks as well. Be safe.

Does not contain smells.,

I like to cut up vegetables and store them ahead of time for things like omelettes and salads and while I do very much like the fact that these are made out of glass and not plastic, I do not like their inability to create an odor tight seal. I am still experimenting and seem to be the only one thus far to mention this but onions, peppers and soup smells will permeate your refrigerator. I have put plastic wrap between the containers and the lids with much better results but that kinda defeats the point.

lids just won't close,

I bought these for the same reasons. Nice to look at, glass..so microwave safe, stain proof. They seemed like the best solution. Until I brought them home and cleaned them and now the lids won't close. I manage to get the smaller one to snap on after a lot of grunting.... not worth it. But the medium size and the bigger one just does not close. I asked my husband to try and he gave up too. Definitely not worth adding the trouble to your usual housework struggles. And I am sure the better ones will eventually after some use stop closing too.
Don't waste your money on these.

I picked up this set for $29.99 at my local Costco (they had a $6.00 off coupon too so watch out for that in their newsletter!). They are the best investment as I do not like to microwave leftovers in plastic tupperwares anymore for health reasons. I use them not only to store leftovers in the frig but also to pack my lunches in and the airtight lids mean I don't have to worry as much (you always worry) about spilling foods with water during the transport to work. The lids are a bit hard to snap on at first (I literally thought I was putting it on wrong because at first it was so tight it didn't snap in) but I find it loosens up with use while still being secure.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Snapware 18pc Glasslock Tempered Glass Storage Containers 18piece Set with Lids (Kitchen)
I found a limited supply of these Glasslock containers at a local Asian market and bought 6 small ones (the lids were hard to snap closed, but with a little grunting and effort and soar palms, I got them closed). Then I found these online (less than I paid at the market). Every single one of them snapped closed with NO effort. I love that they have a glass bottom (since plastic in microwaves is BAD, BAD) and I love that they have a solid seal around the top...NO SPILLAGE! They stack beautifully in the fridge/freezer. Unfortunately, I found these, not a week later, at a local mega-club store for much less so you may want to look around before shelling out for the shipping cost. Oh well, I'm very happy with these and have recommended them to many people. Also, the ones I bought at the Asian market had a warning on them to NOT microwave the lids, but I didn't find a warning about that in/on this box (something about ruining the seal).

Horrible quality!!!!! stay away from them,
This review is from: Snapware 18pc Glasslock Tempered Glass Storage Containers 18piece Set with Lids (Kitchen)
I bought 2 of these sets and really liked them intially until the edges started chipping off. One day a glass peice got into the food and actually cut my mom's tongue. Her tongue bleeded for almost 1 hour but i managed to carefully removed the glass peice from her tongue to realize that it was actually from these container. Then i noticed that most of them had broken edges. I don't recommend buying these as it can be dangerous if the broken peice gets into the food.
