4.0 out of 5 stars Very efficient food storage
I once ordered the food storage containers with a "LocktoLock" brand name. They are similar in nature to these in that they have a removable silicone seal and four locking latches. The "LockToLock" containers, however, will not nest for storage when they are not in use, thus they take up as much space empty as they do when in use.

3.0 out of 5 stars quality???
Just got the 36 piece set
Took it home. Washed it.
was about to put cereal into the 23 Cup Cereal Container. Tapped the lid to make sure there was no water in the seals and then, the pour lid snapped off. Apparently the hinge for the pour spout just broke. And because of that, the lid can no longer seal air tight. The cereal lid seals in 2 ways. 1) Main...

I once ordered the food storage containers with a "LocktoLock" brand name. They are similar in nature to these in that they have a removable silicone seal and four locking latches. The "LockToLock" containers, however, will not nest for storage when they are not in use, thus they take up as much space empty as they do when in use.

These containers, however, nest nicely in a drawer, and provide completely airtight storage for food in my freezer/refrigerator. Though they claim to be microwave safe, I don't think that any plastic containers should be used in the microwave; all will melt if subjected to the heat of microwaved food - will cause blistering of the plastic and is probably no good for your health. They would be perfect if they were made of the same polycarbonate plastic as the "LockToLock" containers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Food lasts longer and never spills, December 28, 2009

These are great food storage containers. Because they have seals and snap closed, they keep the food fresh longer. Also, if you leave the food in the fridge until it rots, it never smells, nor explodes. Really great containers. The set has too many small ones, I'd like more of the middle sizes, but still great set.

Apparently the hinge for the pour spout just broke. And because of that, the lid can no longer seal air tight. The cereal lid seals in 2 ways. 1) Main seal that goes around the entire top of the cereal container itself & 2) And then another lid built into the lid so that you can pour the cereal out.

I called Snapware customer service. They say they'll replace it. We'll see how this process goes. Their web site says 6-8 weeks to get replacement.

The stuff looks good. But for that to happen within minutes of opening and washing makes me wonder if this is a quality product or just good looking cheap stuff.

That being said, other reviews have been pretty solid. Perhaps this was a freak thing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Snapware, February 8, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Snapware 36 Piece Food Srotage Container Set, Includes 2 Fliptop Containers (Kitchen)
The box arrived with broken lids. I contacted the manufacturer who told me to contact Amazon.com. Amazon.com told me that these lids could not be replaced because they didn't manufacture the product. I was told by Amazon.com that if I could find lids somewhere else they would reimburse me for the cost. WHAT!?!? Why can't Amazon.com just refund me for an approximate cost for the broken lids? They have photos of the broken lids so there should be no problem with determining that these pieces are indeed broken. So--I'm stuck with containers that I can't use because the lids are broken and no options for replacement because these particular items are not available anywhere else. In my opinion this is no way to run a business. Bad news travels fast and Amazon.com should know this simple fact. Bottom line--I won't buy anything from Amazon.com that I can get locally and will be extremely careful about purchases being from vendors other than Amazon.com. Buyer Beware!

Snapware is really missing the boat on marketing to the older buyer. These containers are absolutely fabulous. I've bought multiple sets for the grandma's. They can open and close them easily. This cannot be said of Rubbermaid or Tupperware whose seals seem to get tighter over use and cleaning. I HIGHLY recommend these products for people of all ages. Our kids love them too!

I carry my lunch in these containers to work. They seal so tightly and securely that I never worry about something leaking in my bag.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cracked at hinges on one of the lids, otherwise great, October 1, 2010
This review is from: Snapware 36 Piece Food Srotage Container Set, Includes 2 Fliptop Containers (Kitchen)
I've had this for a few months and I have sent them into school with my 4 y/o son daily, microwaved them, dishwashered them, and frozen them. Most of the set has held up pretty well, but I did notice that one of the hinges cracked. I am not sure if this was because I wasn't PRESSING DOWN on the lid when I sealed it, though. I realized after owning them for a week that it is important to press down on the lid before trying to close the hinged snap locks. If the lock isn't snapping closed, don't force it, just press down on the lid to close it more tightly before trying to snap the locks closed. Since all the other hinges on that particular lid are still working, the lid still seals, for now. The hinges appear to be pretty flimsy, though, and I anticipate this happening to more of the lids. I will update my review if it worsens or happens again.

My only other (very minor) complaint is that the flip top on the cereal container is such that you really have to shake the cereal to get it to come out and sometimes more comes out than I want because of the shape of the opening.

Otherwise I have been pretty happy and will probably buy another set. I got mine at Costco, though, for almost half off of what they are asking on Amazon.

We have a full set of these containers and find that the bottoms of 32 oz and 64 oz containers have shattered, either in the dishwasher, refrigerator or microwave. We are not sure when it happened. Under warranty on the Snapwear web wage, they do not mention Snap'N Serve. Nuff said!

These pack well in your cabinet, and the seals are watertight. All sorts of sizes for all sorts of stuff. No problems with putting them in a microwave at work - no peeling of the sides or melting of the Snapware. Very satisfied with this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Snaps into place, July 20, 2010
This review is from: Snapware 36 Piece Food Srotage Container Set, Includes 2 Fliptop Containers (Kitchen)
Purchased after Cook's Illustrated gave a positive review and I have been pleased with the product.
I have tested the product with soups, yogurts, meats, and veggies. There have been no leaks, stains or smells that remain after washing. I have used them in my freezer and fridge, but have not microwaved-although it does say that they are safe since they are BPA free.
I wouldn't change anything about thing about the containers, but recommend washing the colored gaskets separately so the containers are fully cleaned.
