Werewolves, beat poetry, borgelnuskies - the stuff of life., July 24, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Snarkout Boys and the Baconburg Horror (Signet) (Paperback)
One of my favorite books of all time, which may seem like an odd thing (It's in there with Cat's Eye by Margaret Atwood and Songs of Innocence and Experience by William Blake)but no book to me so accurately captures the wonder of wandering around any city late at night, eating at skanky diners (both horridly magnificent and magnificently horrid) and having the sort of strange encounters that only seem capable of happening at 2a.m.
Werewolves, beat poetry, borgelnuskies, The Mighty Gorilla -- Mr. Pinkwater tells the truth, but tells it slant. Trust me, it's all in there. I just hope it comes back into print some day (I xeroxed my copy at the Royal Oak Public Library.

Pinkwater's Best, December 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Snarkout Boys and the Baconburg Horror (Signet) (Paperback)
... and that's saying a lot. I've been a big Pinkwater fan for many years, and this is my favorite of his. The book is longer than his short picture books - long enough that he can really get into the story - and what a story! It just keeps getting better and better as you go on. Yes, this is Pinkwater at his best - demand its republishing!

My dad and I listened to the audio version in the car. I absolutely loved this, as did he. We even listened to it twice.
