More About the Author

I like books that are funny and fun to read (and hot!) but also make me think or look at the world in a new way. I am influenced by magic realism, comparative mythology, and esoteric spiritual practices from around the world.

I spent too many years chasing someone else's definition of success. My life simplified, I returned to my first love of writing.

These days you'll find me writing, pet sitting, juggling a number of freelance gigs, and reigning as my home's domestic goddess. I live in the Midwestern U.S. with my husband, dog and cats. Alas, I have, as of yet, been unable to teach my husband how to purr.

Received an ARC for an honest review. I was a bit hesitant when I started reading this as I feel the cover wasn't as well thought out as it could have been. I love para books, and para romance so I was eager to read this novel.

Much to my chargin I realized that there were two other books before this so I never felt like I really got to know the characters. Especially Jorge, he felt like a back ground character most of the book. I won't get into detail of the book as I don't want to spoil it but over all I'm giving this a 3 out of 5 stars and here is why....

The characters that we got to know were very well written although I felt the language was a bit too contrite at times. I loved Chloe from page one and was excited to read her story. However, I felt that I never got the full grasp of her story as I never read the first two books.

I loved the direction that the author had come to with the existence of paranormal beings and why there were here. I felt like it was a new take on an otherwise old story. I love new spins! Makes it fresh!!

For me that's where it ended... This isn't a stand alone so you should read the first two novels. I felt like there was little to no plot at all... There was little to no conflict and everything was tied up in a nice bow at the end. There could have been so much more and I feel like there were a lot of missed chances. Unfortunately, great ideas and new twists can only take a book so far. At the end I was left wondering what I missed.

To Snarl or To Snuggle brings a completion to the end of this series that won’t disappoint. We met Jorge’s family in To Growl. To Snarl introduces some new members of Chloe’s family and re-visit’s her new found yet complicated relationship with her mom. As in the past two books Chloe and Jorge’s relationship continues to evolve. In this book they are introduced to new situations and new people that have an effect on themselves and their relationship with each other. As events throughout the story occur they must decide if their trust and love for one another is strong enough to make it to their wedding day.

I have read all the books in this series, and enjoyed this final installment very much. It is not often that you find a strong female character in a paranormal romance that isn’t about killing and hunting vampires. Chloe’s personality holds strong and true as it did in the other books. Jorge is not the alpha in this relationship, but plays a key role in Chloe’s development as a human being. He’s hot, sexy and nerdy, and does a pretty good job in bed at taming Chloe’s temper. Overall, I enjoyed reading about this couple’s journey together and as individuals, and the paranormal aspects were a much loved added addition to their story.

I am excited to see what new stories Ms. Armock has in store for us next.

My first comment would be… if you haven’t read the first 2 books… don’t bother reading To Snarl or to Snuggle. I didn’t read the first books and it took me quite a while to figure out just what was going on. A LOT of the main character development obviously happened before book 3. Because I missed out on that I had a hard time connecting with Chloe and Jorge (as well as the rest of the cast of characters). It makes it hard to get into a romance when you’re not quite sure why the couple is together.

That said… I did end up liking the book. Katya Armock’s writing style makes it an easy read. I imagine if I read the first book and had all of the background info I really would have liked Chloe. I’m left feeling like I’m going to go back as soon as I’ve got time to read the whole series. I really would like to find out how Chloe came into her powers. I’d love to know how she and Jorge met (which is in book 1). I REALLY want to know more about Chloe meeting Jorge’s family (which is book 2). And I’m really wishing there was more Christopher (Jorge’s adopted brother). Yep…. more Christopher please. I need to know more about him.

I loved, loved this 3rd book in the series. You see Chloe grow into her powers and become a real strong force who can overcome both her own fears and help others. In the first 2 books Jorge was featured more than this one but Chloe needed him more in those two books than in the 3rd. In book three, the emphasis is Chloe but she still needs to have Jorge for support or she will not be able to succeed. You also see Jorge grow and let go of those petty issues he was holding on to for so long. You learn where Chloe’s powers come from and al lot about her family. She has some interesting relatives. No spoilers, you have to read to find out about them.

Just like the last 2 books there is a lot of romance, shape-shifting, sex and mystery. But his one moves much faster and keeps you from putting it down because you just have to know what will happens next. This series was a great find and there is complete closure but with just a hint that there could be more stories about Jorge, Chloe and their families.

This book could have been so much better. It's a great story. For someone like me who hasn't read any books by this author, she takes that into account. You don't feel completely left out of the series. Chloe was interesting. She's smart, protective and has a pretty cool power. Jorge, I don't feel like you get to know him well enough.

The dialogue seems a little stilted. They all speak so properly, that it's hard to get into. Most people don't speak perfect english.

I loved watching as they put together a wedding and dealt with their personal issues. Chloe and her mom, that was wonderful to see how it all turned around. I think that if there were some changes made to the talking, and maybe some trimming on certain parts that aren't needed, it would be a much easier read. Like:
The drive into town is uneventful. I planned the later time to avoide rush hour traffic. Plus I hate mornings. < Parts like this felt like they were upping the word count and held no value to the story. Cutting some of that would make this read smoother, easier and flow better.

If you're into paranormal romance, then you may like this. It's certainly a different twist compared to other paranormals. It's interesting to see something different in a genre that's flooded with the same thing over and over.

My rating- out of 1-5:
Cover: 5 - it's hot
Editing: 2 - needs some trimming, dialogue needs to be more realistic
Plot: 4 - refreshing
Ending: 4 - well done

rating 3.5
