Book Description

Welcome to Snarque. A town so smug about its exclusivity its unofficial motto is "Have a nice day…. Somewhere else"

When the most prestigious midwife in Snarque is found dead in a million-dollar koi pond (her blood ruining the pond’s pH), David Windom, disgraced Beverly Hills PD public affairs officer now Snarque’s homicide detective has a problem. Does he cover up what he knows to be murder for the good of the town's reputation or does he try to solve the crime?

He's aided by Mattie the attractive local florist/exotic plant hallucinogenic purveyor. But even she could be a suspect along with a cross-dressing financier, a Lothario Gardner and others.

Scandal, sex, and schadenfreude. It’s all so deliciously precious.

There are so many people with hidden secrets and motives in this book that it kept me guessing right up until the end. Highly recommended for a fast, fabulous read!

2.0 out of 5 stars Quickie June 11, 2012

This is a funny, quirky book about some rather odd people. There is quite a bit of sex, 2 murders, and a touch of spookiness. It is NOT for serious mystery fans. The ending is incredibly abrupt; I think they hit their word limit.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasing/Entertaining October 11, 2012

A great commentary on the excesses of upper class America and more importantly what kinds of people make up the "Upper Class". It isn't a complete list but it is a fun start. The author's absurdist take reminded me of Carl Hiassen. Not as good certainly but in the same vein. Actually if Hiassen and Hunter S. Thompson got together over a case of whiskey and wrote a novel, this would be their first draft which puts it ahead of an awful lot of writers.
