Book Description

Ask not what your cat can do for you—ask what you can do for your cat.

Tired of politics as usual? Despair not: Rita Mae Brown’s intrepid feline co-author, Sneaky Pie, is taking time off from her busy schedule writing bestselling mysteries to run for President of the United States. It’s never too late to start! With help from her friends—the irascible gray cat Pewter, the wise Corgi Tee Tucker, and Tally, the exuberant Jack Russell—Sneaky crisscrosses her home state of Virginia hoping to go where no cat since Socks Clinton has gone: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. After all, who better to get the economy purring again than an honest tabby with authentic political stripes? Sneaky has an animal-friendly agenda to unify all Americans—regardless of whether they walk on two or four feet or even if they fly.

Human candidates have had their chance in Washington, and nowhere does it say in the Constitution that the next president cannot be a cat. Vote Sneaky!

Includes a preview of Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie Brown’s next Mrs. Murphy mystery, The Litter of the Law .

2.0 out of 5 stars pedantic and boring August 11, 2012
By nnb2004
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Rita Mae Brown has often at times gotten a little preachy in her books. But fortunately you can just skip through those sections and get back to the action of the book. But this book is sooooo boring and preachy from start to finish. While her green viewpoint is important and I heartily agree with her opinion the book is just one complaint after another about the current state of political affairs. She did her characters and Sneaky Pie a real disservice using them in this gratuitous way in order to sell a treatise on her environmental viewpoint. She is obviously hoping people buy this book because of the love of her characters and I think the vast majority of them will be disappointed. I don't know how it could be called a novel when there is no plot what so ever. I regret the Kindle price I paid for this book. It is so short in length that it does not justify the price in any way. I should have gotten the free sample first and then I wouldn't have wasted my money. I don't feel I can trust her as an author anymore and will definitely get a free sample before I buy another one of her books.

1.0 out of 5 stars Soapbox August 8, 2012

While I agree with many of the author's opinions, I do not want to pay for them. This book has no story or plot; it is just a platform to put forward her views. The only Kindle book I returned.

1.0 out of 5 stars Animal Farm...but less subtle August 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I am a long-time fan of the Mrs. Murphy series. Rita Mae Brown has introduced a lot of extreme liberal views in her non-mystery books (Grapefruit Jungle, etc.), but she has kept her personal politics to a minimum in the Mrs. Murphy series so as not to detract from the clever plots and engaging characters. That being said, I was surprised and extremely disappointed by this book. I expected a playful romp with Sneaky Pie. Instead I was subjected to an abrasive rant about the evils of humans in general - and Republicans in particular. If Ms. Brown wants to write about politics, there are plenty of news agencies, magazines, and websites that would be happy to publish it. While I do not lean towards the right, the views in this book were extreme and even absurd (if a Republican president is elected, the tufted titmouse's name will be changed?). If you are looking for a well-written mystery, pick up one of the Mrs. Murphy books. If you are looking for a nutty political train wreck, this is the book for you!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not up to par August 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was surprised and disappointed in this new novel. It was not at all up to her usual high standards... difficult to "get into". The story line was wandering and disjointed with little plot coming through to grab onto.
Please, go back to your past wonderful story lines!

1.0 out of 5 stars A Mis Step August 22, 2012
Format:Hardcover
If RMB wants to write about her political and social views, fine. Just don't put it on the backs of the animal characters. Her animal friends are best when they make wry and humorous observations on basic human nature. This book is preachy from start to finish with little action to sustain it. I agree with many of her views, but I think this was a serious misstep and a disservice to her animal friends. Save the sermons for a work of nonfiction.

BTW if you are looking for a really GOOD RMB book about her animal friends, I can recommend Animal Magnetism. A good read.

I want my money back. Strictly soap box ranting and entirely without plot. A complete waste of the reader's time.
