Editorial Reviews

The sniper, first and foremost, is a hunterhis weapon is a riflehis preyanother human being. None have embraced this world better than the American sniper. From the American Revolution to the modern wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the American sniper has been the most efficient weapon on the battlefield.
This fascinating documentary series delivers heart-pounding real-life tales from the militarys most experienced snipers. Few military feats stir the imagination like the image of a pair of riflemen waiting quietly in a building, in a bomb crater, or a mountain pass for the enemy to walk into their crosshairs.
Bonus feature includes Interactive Timeline which chronicles the past and present transformation of the Sniper.

Made with the full cooperation from the US Marine Corps and the National Rifle Association
Brand new production focuses on the latest in technology and techniques
Topical subject matter should appeal to fans of the reality competition series Top Shot

5.0 out of 5 stars One Shot, One Kill November 20, 2011

Amazing! This dvd covers the history of the American sniper and snipers in general from the Revolutionary War to the present day wars. The first disc discusses some of the training U.S. military snipers have to go through and the equipment they use. They discuss their rifles, rifle and spotter scopes and how they make their ghillie suits. The second disc is about the sniper in combat operatons from the 18th century to the 21st. This dvd is the best out there for the topic of American snipers, their stories, equipment and training. Also has some discussions on foreign snipers outside the U.S.A. With OPSEC in mind it wont give out all the secrets, but its still an amazing DVD on the topic of professional snipers. Also, if you like this DVD then check out the books Ultimate Sniper (more of a manual) and Triggermen. Both are very well written and very informative on the topics of snipers, shooting and some of their experiences in combat.

I admit to being somewhat puzzled after reading some of the reviews about this excellent DVD. It is clearly a documentary on the history and training program of the American Sniper. This is a two DVD pack that runs 4 hours and 28 minutes. It is organized into six interesting programs.

Program one covers Who is the Sniper? This part deals with the personality of the sniper, sniper training and their equipment. The second program tells about The sniper at war. The missions, first kill and confirmed kills are explained in this section. The third program covers how snipers were used in the revolutionary war to the Mexican American war. The fourth program deals with the use of snipers from the civil war to WW11. The fifth program explains how snipers were used in the Korean war, the Vietnam war and the police wars. The final program covers the American sniper in the 21st century. This section includes information on the law enforcement sniper, snipers in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and the many myths and misconceptions about snipers.

In conclusion, this excellent two-DVD set is a real bargain. If you are interested in learning the vital role the sniper plays in the battle to defeat our enemies, you should check out this DVD. A highly informative DVD.
