Works well, but...,

I purchased a Sno-Knife half-way through winter and was pleased with it. However, I found it difficult to use from the ground. The pitch of my roof is 4/12 and, after attaching several extensions to get far enough from the house to get the proper angle, I found the Sno-Knife awkward to use. I then used the Sno-Knife (with one extension) from a ladder leaned against the eaves of my one-story house. This worked well for me, but some people may not be comfortable on a ladder in winter. I was very impressed how quickly the Sno-Knife slid snow off my roof (I only used it on fairly wet snow). I also was impressed with how I could remove snow at an angle to the side, so it did not slide onto me (I would guess that Sno-Knife is better at this than other roof-clearing products). Sno-Knife should be easier to use from the ground on steeper roofs, but question its use with two-story houses.

Without a doubt the best roof snow removal tool.,
This review is from: Sno-Knife Roof Snow Removal Tool Rake (Misc.)
I purchased a Sno-Knife over two years ago in order to remove the snow from the roof of our mountain cabin. After using the tool, I was impressed to say the least. I subsequently purchased a spare blade and I have not needed it as the original is still going strong. Our cabin roof is metal and very steep and when removing the snow, I try to position myself off to one side as I learned the hard way that you do not want to be directly in line with the snow when it comes off. I make it a point of heading to the cabin for snow removal after we have had a storm. I keep a large snowblower on the covered porch and I remove the deck snow, then I use the Sno-Knife to clear the roof and blow that snow off of the deck. I then go around to the other side of the cabin, blow the snow off of the road, remove the roof snow and blow that snow off of the road. This tool works great and is made in the USA. Highly recommend

Finally! Something that works!,

Purchased this just before last season. Minimal snow (no more than 14" at a time) so this didn't get heavily used. This year is proving to be a different story! This item works! 4000 square feet of roof and in the past it has taken me three days of sun up to sun down work to get the snow off! The snow knife has cut my time down to 5 to 6 hours and the roof is cleaner than it was when I used a shovel! It's also one heck of a lot better on the shingles!Well worth the cost, purchased from Northern Tool through Amazon.

simply awesome,

I bought my sno-knife several years ago. After a little practice I realized what an amazing tool this is. This year we had record snow here in flagstaff and let me say it has been awesome to be able to clear my roof and not end up with an aching back. Not only that but four of my neighbors waited in line to borrow it. I just ordered my second sno-knife and two of my neighbors are ordering their own sno-knives. If you live in an area where clearing your roof of snow is a must then you need this tool.

snow drift,

At the time I ordered the sno-knife I had a 30" snow accumulation about 12 feet up from the edge of my roof that resulted from blowing and drifting snow caused by 15-20 mph winds. By the time my sno-knife arrived, the snow was frozen solid since the temperature was below freezing for several days. The sno-knife was able to deal with the situation with relative ease. Also, a portion of my roof is not accessible by standing directly under a snow rake since the terrain falls off sharply on the west side of the house. With the sno-knife I was able to work from an angle and remove the snow over the portion of the roof not otherwise accessible. I actually ordered my SK-P4 (20 foot) sno-knife on eBay from sno-knife. The price was $59.95 and the shipping was $9.00 via UPS.

once you use the sno-knife you will wonder how you did without it. it is so much faster and easier than anything out there. I have had one for 4 years now, and used it a lot and it still looks like new. It can be used to clean decks too.

Works well enough, cheaper direct from the manufacturer,

I just used my new unit for the first time, but only on 3" of fresh snowfall. It worked well enough; with my 4/12 roof I had to use all extensions provided. Another one might have made it easier to reach all of the snow, but not having one to try it, it might be too extended to use easily. Be careful not to pull it completely off the edge of the roof, or a heavy snow fall might knock it to the ground at that extension. I purchased mine directly from the manufacturer, 10 bux cheaper, and delivered quickly. [...] |
