Biography

The offices at the top of the Capitol Records building in Hollywood are home to
some of Southern California’s most awe-inspiring views. Through the circular glass
that adorns the iconic edifice, you can see the plush landscapes of some of the
world’s most lavish neighborhoods. But look a little farther and you can just as
effortlessly peer into the working class streets that birthed gangsta rap.

3.0 out of 5 stars Another mediocre effort from Snoop, October 25, 2004
By
This review is from: Snoop Dogg Presents: Doggy Style Allstars - Welcome To Tha House, Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
This album is mediocre and has no great tracks. It has some booming production on some tracks and horrible on others. Hi Tek did 4 songs, Meech Wells, Soopafly each did 2, and EZ Elpee, ALChemist, Fred Wreck, DJ Premier, DJ Slip, DJ Scratch, Quaze, Vinnie Bernard, Michael Angelo, Nottz, Ep all do 1 song. it does have the nice voice of Latoiya Williams (I'm not and R&B fan and I don't think she fits in on this album at all) and it has a little too much of Kokane's whiney-voiced hooks. Features newcomer E-White who has mediocre ability and old-timer raspy/harsh voiced RBX, as well as Snoop Dogg himself. It has 8 songs I skip, 8 are ok, and the other 3 are good. Not highly recommended by me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Doggs Unleashed, August 14, 2002

This review is from: Snoop Dogg Presents: Doggy Style Allstars - Welcome To Tha House, Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
The Doggystyle All-Stars are on to of the West Coast rap game. With the assistance of the crew from Long Beach, who were responsable for a great deal of the material heard on the original Chronic and Doggystyle ( minus Dr.Dre, The DOC and Kurupt). Snoop helps us to remember why we started listening to them in the first place. All the artists step to the mic like the vicious dogs they are, tearing it to shreads. The Lady of Rage distroys all female mc's ( and male MC's for that matter) on the cut "Unfucwitable" and Snoop along with RBX rip Suge and Death Row a new a-hole on " The Strong Will Eat The Weak". Soopafly and E-White also show that they are lyrists of top quality on many of the albums cuts. With production from the likes of DJ Premiere, Hi-Tek, Fred Wreck, EZ Elpee and Alchemist to complement the lyrical gangbang, this album is top notch. The only aspect that I disliked was the 2 or 3 R&B tracks, they simply didn't fit.

4.0 out of 5 stars More RBX please, November 27, 2002

This review is from: Snoop Dogg Presents: Doggy Style Allstars - Welcome To Tha House, Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
This album is pretty good. Snoop has proved himself to be a leading executive rap producer. He really is on top form these days. I had to buy this album cos I buy everything Snoop does, plus I can't get enough of RBX. I didn't like Soopafly's solo album but his rapping and production is much better on this album. I still won't be tempted to buy his next releaase though. E White is good and Kokane and Latoya Williams are excellent as ever. Still I probably won't be tempted to buy their solo albums either. I want an RBX album. I think he's just being lazy not making one. He raps on the odd song, on the odd album, but features several times here. Yet he's the only one of the Allstars who isn't planning a solo album anytime soon. Get to work Naborator, yes I remember you. You drop bombs, you have no remorse, but do you make albums?
