This album is mediocre and has no great tracks. It has some booming production on some tracks and horrible on others. This album is mediocre and has no great tracks. It has some booming production on some tracks and horrible on others. Hi Tek did 4 songs, Meech Wells, Soopafly each did 2, and EZ Elpee, ALChemist, Fred Wreck, DJ Premier, DJ Slip, DJ Scratch, Quaze, Vinnie Bernard, Michael Angelo, Nottz, Ep all do 1 song. it does have the nice voice of Latoiya Williams (I'm not and R&B fan and I don't think she fits in on this album at all) and it has a little too much of Kokane's whiney-voiced hooks. Features newcomer E-White who has mediocre ability and old-timer raspy/harsh voiced RBX, as well as Snoop Dogg himself. It has 8 songs I skip, 8 are ok, and the other 3 are good. Not highly recommended by me.

The Doggystyle All-Stars are on to of the West Coast rap game. With the assistance of the crew from Long Beach, who were responsable for a great deal of the material heard on the original Chronic and Doggystyle ( minus Dr.Dre, The DOC and Kurupt). Snoop helps us to remember why we started listening to them in the first place. All the artists step to the mic like the vicious dogs they are, tearing it to shreads. The Lady of Rage distroys all female mc's ( and male MC's for that matter) on the cut "Unfucwitable" and Snoop along with RBX rip Suge and Death Row a new a-hole on " The Strong Will Eat The Weak". Soopafly and E-White also show that they are lyrists of top quality on many of the albums cuts. With production from the likes of DJ Premiere, Hi-Tek, Fred Wreck, EZ Elpee and Alchemist to complement the lyrical gangbang, this album is top notch. The only aspect that I disliked was the 2 or 3 R&B tracks, they simply didn't fit.

4.0 out of 5 stars More RBX please, November 27, 2002

This album is pretty good. Snoop has proved himself to be a leading executive rap producer. He really is on top form these days. I had to buy this album cos I buy everything Snoop does, plus I can't get enough of RBX. I didn't like Soopafly's solo album but his rapping and production is much better on this album. I still won't be tempted to buy his next releaase though. E White is good and Kokane and Latoya Williams are excellent as ever. Still I probably won't be tempted to buy their solo albums either. I want an RBX album. I think he's just being lazy not making one. He raps on the odd song, on the odd album, but features several times here. Yet he's the only one of the Allstars who isn't planning a solo album anytime soon. Get to work Naborator, yes I remember you. You drop bombs, you have no remorse, but do you make albums?

I had my doubts on this one. I went ahead and purchased and liked it. Snoop gives a of producers- Buckwild, Hi-Tek, & Soopafly. All the beats are coo and everyone comes off nice. My favorite tracks are "Dogg House America", "Not Like It Was", "Doh Doh", "Are You Ready", "Light That S-- Up", and a few others. This is a must add to your cd collection.

3.0 out of 5 stars This Is Okay., August 29, 2002

This review is from: Snoop Dogg Presents: Doggy Style Allstars - Welcome To Tha House, Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
This album should be much better than it is. The All-Stars as Snoop calls them are not on the same level as Snoop and this makes for a tremendous clash of styles. There are a few other artists that did belong on the album, but most of these artists would have been better if left out of this project. The intro hits you like WHOA!!, and then the next track comes in and you're like, OK this might be a pretty good album. Then as you keep listening, you realize that there are some not so good tracks on this album. After the first track, there are no more good songs until about number 7 or 8. Then there are about 3 or 4 more good songs on the rest of the album. It absolutely disappoints me to see one of my favorite artists present such mediocre work to the audience. I have always been a huge fan of the West Coast smooth style, and the beats that are not so hard like many artists on the East. This is not promoting any war or fighting between the 2 coasts, simply realizing that there are obvious different styles. This album has some West Coast Style and a lot more East Coast Style, which doesn't need to be on this album. Too many artists today are falling into a trap of imitating sounds and music just because they like the music. This should not mean that they need to use the same style in their own music. It's just annoying and aggrevating to keep hearing the same beats and emptiness no matter what artist you listen to. Overall, there are more bad songs than there are good songs, which makes for only an OK album.
-PEACE-

Thanx Snoop for bringin tha funk back to rap and hip hop- the change is much needed since most of rap has been recyclin tha same old tired beats since 1992- this change in sound is long over due. Funk is back and it's all over this cd. This is Snoops best cd ever-even better than his first 2 cd's in his career- fire one up and get it today and bump it loud in the jizzo hizzo !

5.0 out of 5 stars LaToiya Williams is the new Queen of Soul, December 5, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Snoop Dogg Presents: Doggy Style Allstars - Welcome To Tha House, Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
OK, I have to admit first that I haven't heard all of this album yet. But I have heard the LaToiya Williams-tracks. She is amazing; Aretha Franklin, Belita Woods and Chaka Khan rolled into one and then some. Mary J Blige or Angie Stone are not even in the same league as Latoiya Williams. Don't mistake this for old skool 70s retro. Fallen Star is a very sophisticated production that expands the g-funk style. Moving from the negativity of the gangsta-era to these positive vibes Snoop proves himself to be a bigger man than the likes of Suge Knight. Latoiya Williams' voice is full of love. This is what we need now.

Doggystyle is the world's best record label IMO. RBX, Soopa Fly, Latoiya, Snoop, E-White, and Kokane all sound great on this album. Also there are guest spots from Daz, Rage, and Cam'ron. This CD is on fire and yall need to get this.
