My two beagles, Tommy Tunes and Freddy Girl LOVE this bed. It's a medium size, just right for a beagle.

I have a seven year old dachshund with a really bad spinal problem; he's been in very bad paid for about six months now. Dachshunds are notorious burrowers and I had all kinds of blankets and towels and bedding in his dedicated doggie area. His name is Maxx so I call it his "Maxi-Pad." I saw that it was hurting him to burrow in his normal way, so I began looking around for something better for him. I visited every web site and pet store and found nothing that I thought would work, until I happened upon the Cozy Cave on Amazon. I jumped on the order! When it arrived, it had the typical new-bedding smell so he didn't take to it right away. I aired it out for a few days in the fresh air but for several nights he continued to sleep on top on a blanket on the floor in his Maxi Pad. I figured I needed to coax him in there since I had already thrown his old bedding away. So I put my hands deep in the opening of the Cozy Cave and he climbed in there trying to play with my hands. First step of actually getting him to go in was solved. For a night or two I noticed he still was reluctant to sleep in it. It dawned on my what I had done when I brough him home when he was just a little puppy and was sleeping in his kennel" he missed my smell! So I took one of my old wear-around-the-house tee shirts and stuffed in toward the back of the Cozy Cave. Next morning I couldn't find him and peeked around the top of the Cozy Cave and saw him sound asleep. He's been sleeping in his Cozy Cave every night since. It does my heart good to see him safe, secure and comfortable. I wonder if he knows how much I love him? If you have a dachshund, I'll bet they will love you too once you get them a Cozy Cave.

My little guy (5.5 pounds) has three beds, and this is his favorite by far. He loves to burrow into it, and the internal wire keeps the hood up so he can peek outside. The small size would probably fit two 5 lb dogs, and would be fine for one 10 to 15 pound dog. My house is drafty, and I'm happy that this bed will keep him warm--it's like a sleeping bag with sherpa lining. This product is a little pricey compared to others, but it's worth the cost.

I got this bed for my 10 year old, 20 pound French Bulldog who loves sleeping under blankets. The bed is very nicely made and of good quality materials. It feels like it will be a very durable bed. There's quite a bit of stuffing. The front of the flap has a rigid insert so it stays up by itself. I was worried that the small bed would be too small for my dog, but it is quite roomy, she can crawl into the back with plenty of space up front. (see photo)

First of all I have two khaki cave beds, I bought them in January 2013. I'm writing this review in December 2013, so they are about a year old. I have two dogs:
45 lbs beagle, Treeing walker coon hound, she's built like a small lab or an extra tall beagle
65 lbs Pit mix muscular broad chestk, stocky but not overly tall. taller than my other dog, just not as tall as some pits (they can get huge!)

I bought two beds, a large and an x-large. Both my dogs fit snuggly in the x large when in there together. When in there individually they each have enough room to burrow, turn around, etc. on a normal night my 45 lb dog sleeps in the xlarge alone and completely dispears into the bed. I often can't tell by looking at the bed that's actually in it! In the Large bed, both dogs can fit but my 65 lb pit can't turn around, it's a snug fit, but he can get in it. If your dog is over 45 lbs or extra tall for this weight I'd recomment the xlarge so they can make themselves more comfortable. My 45 lb dog can turn around in the large size bed and sleeps happily in it, but because it's significant'y smaller she doesn't disappear into the bed in the same way as the xlarge. she likes to be 100% under covers and prefers the larger bed.

Note: there is no medium. the XLARGE is HUGE when it comes to taking up floor space so be prepared for the size. As silly as it sounds use painters tape and cut two 45 inch pieces make and x with them on your floor and see that this isn't a small, out of th way bed. The large is more of the medium size, so if your dog is 20-45 lbs you're probably fine with the large.

Why get a cave bed? I know someone out there has a dog that sleeps UNDER the covers with them. my 45 lb hound does. she likes to be completely covered,at the foot of the bed.

I have a VERY snuggly pit bull mix, who I was sure I would never be able to train to stay out of my bed at night.

My boyfriend and I tried everything to train her to sleep on her old doggy bed. But sure enough -- around 2:00 AM every single night -- we'd find her sneaking back into our bed. Not having the heart to lock her out of the room, I finally decided to try out this cozy cave and MY GOD life is so much better. I actually get a full night of sleep for the first time in years.

The best part is that she loves the cozy cave so much that she actually prefers to sleep in it rather than our bed. I've even tried to get her to come into our bed and she'll stay on for a couple minutes before losing interest and going back to her cave.

She even learned a new trick: "Go to your cozy cave!" Actually all my boyfriend has to do is snap his fingers once and she goes right to the cave. So cute!

Anyway, it's pretty awesome. As background, she's about 65 pounds, so a smallish American Bulldog/ pit bull mix. I got her the Extra Large size but I probably could have gone with the Large as there's still plenty of extra room in there. The XL does take up a lot of space in the bedroom, but whatever... it makes her happy :)

I should warn you that it took a little bit of effort to teach her how to open up the lid and crawl in. I suggest putting a couple of treats inside and showing you dog that they can open the flap to get in.

Also, she's quite rough on it -- this thing gets a lot of use -- and we've only had it a few months and the very end of the flap (where the plastic rim that holds it open ends) is starting to fray. Nothing a little extra stitching or a small patch won't fix. Seriously, it's worth every penny.
