Book Description

Snotty Crocky has a booger problem!

While taking a vacation to the Congo river, boisterous local monkeys taunt poor Crocky from the safety of the trees. Despairing from the relentless teasing Crocky enlists the help of a local witch doctor who has an ingenious plan to deal with the monkey menace.

A disgustingly funny story, Snotty Crocky is both hilarious and simple in its execution of a tale about standing up to bullies.

A combination of read-along-verse by Papa G (Pedro The Ugliest Dog In The World) and illustrations by Carlos Patino which perfectly capture the humour of the story, Snotty Crocky is an excellent picture book for children to read along with their parents.

I read this to my daughter and she enjoyed it because she likes rhymes and was tickled by the blowing of booger bubbles from Crocky's nose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Non PC Correct Ending October 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The ending made this story work for me, leading up to it I thought I knew how this was going to end but was more than glad I was wrong. The ending however may get the parents of oversensitive kids a little wound up, but I found it to be quite realistic. The illustrations aren't that realistic at all with the crocodile you can see on the front cover being the most realistic looking of all the animals you'll find on the page but they are a lot of fun. I especially liked how the monkey looked like mutants. The only thing though, from the illustrations I sort of got the impression this should be set in South America with toucans and wildlife like this in the trees, as well as an overall more of a rainforest feel, especially the witch doctor character the way he's drawn, to the animals and people found in the jungles of Africa's Democratic Republic of the Congo (the witch doctor at the start points out where this is if you don't know).

The basic plot of this fun picture book is a crocodile on vacation has a bit of a cold, and thereby snot bubbles coming out his nose. It's not told to us but obviously he's a crocodile so his arms wouldn't reach his nose to blow it. Anyway some rude monkeys start teasing the crocodile about his condition, so much so that he stops swimming and leaves the river to escape their tormenting. However a witch doctor has a plan so that the croc can have his vengeance!

5.0 out of 5 stars Is this Book Candy. No it's Not. October 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
There's rollicking good laughs on every page of this fine little picture book, even though the subject is just icky old snot. The rhyming and meter never breaks throughout the book, even when the author deals with a sharp conflict between Snotty the crocodile and the taunting monkeys in the trees.
Children will delight in the smooth comfort of the meter and rhyme as the story unfolds.
I thought the pictures were unpretentious and well-executed. From looking at them, it's clear the artist has a flair for the absurd in both in his poetry and his art. The ending is really funny. Your children will ask you to read this book over and over again.

Doesn't have a good ending and it doesn't have a good lesson. The pictures aren't that great either. I don't recommend it.

Disgustingly funny book where the blustering baboons gets their bums handed to them and then some! Papa G certainly has some original stories with his own brand of artwork. Read more
