Rhyming winter book,
By
This review is from: Snow
Two kids play in the snow and tell us what they're doing in rhymes, from skiing, to making snow angels, to building an igloo. The text has the flavor of Dr. Seuss, although the actions and the cartoon characters are all down-to-earth and believable- -no wild and crazy critters or plants like you might see in a real Dr. Seuss book. The story is not at all scary, and it's a decent book about winter that beginning readers can handle. It has about 300 words.

This was one of my favorites when I was little-I am 40 now. It captures the spirit and simplicity of a child's enjoyment of one of natures finest gifts.

It's Snow!,
By
This review is from: Snow (Hardcover)
This book is written in the same type of rhyming style that made Dr. Suess' books so famous. However, unlike the good Doctor there aren't any made up words in this book. The rhyming story tells of two siblings adventures in the snow: from sledding to snowball fights to building an igloo. The vocubulary is simple enough that doesn't make reading difficult for younger readers, yet it is challenging enough so that young readers improve their skills without realizing it. The illustrations that accompany the test are delightful. Children love listening to this book and often squeal with laughter at several scenes.

A Cherished Family Favorite In Early Reader Form,
This review is from: Snow (Hardcover)
It's very rare for a beginning reader book to become a favorite, but this one definately is! I have owned a copy of this book for over thirty years, since before I could read it myself, and have since read it to my children. Whenever it snows here, we always ask, " Do you like it in your face?", to which one of us will answer, "Yes! I like it anyplace!" A true classic.

Wonderful Memories flood my mind.....,

This review is from: Snow (Hardcover)
Memories flood my mind everytime I think of or see my "new" copy of this book. My Daddy read this book over and over & over and over!!! I loved it so much....Every night he would asked me "what book are we reading tonight?" and my response was always the same thing " Let's read SNOW,Daddy" It is very simple and cartoonist but a great book. I'm now 42 and my Daddy has been gone now for 2 1/2 years, before he passed away I purchased another copy of this book and had him write a note to me in the front.....I'll cherish it forever & ever!

My first book!,

This review is from: Snow (Hardcover)
I still remember going to the book fair with my mother when I was in kindergarten. She said I could pick any book I wanted, and I picked this one. It was the first book I ever owned and read, I still have the same copy, and I laugh every time I read it!

A family favourite along with summer,
This review is from: Snow (Beginner Books(R)) (Library Binding)
Two children, a boy and girl, experiment with the lovely things you can do with snow. It is in simply rhyming verse and is a great beginner book for children readers, the expectation of what words are to come are fairly obviousI especially love the simply drawn and coloured pictures. They are basic but rich. Each character is roundly appealing. We don't get snow where we live but my children run outside just in case. WE often read the two books (snow and summer) at the same time. The same two children doing nice wintry and summery things. |
