Product Description

This water globe is fun and easy to assemble. Just create a design of your own out of any water resistant material (we recommend polymer clay), then glue it to the rubber gasket provided. Fill the globe with pure water, add the floating bits and one drop of a low-sudsing detergent to break the surface tension of the water so the bits will float in the water. Work the rubber gasket into the neck of the globe and seal around the edge with sillicone sealer. Apply the base and you are finished. This globe makes a terrific personalized gift. Globe measures 2-1/2" in diameter and the neck opening is 1-5/8". When fully assembled into its base it stands 3" tall. Included in this offer are two complete water globe kits consisting of a glass globe, maple finish wood base, a rubber gasket, a package of floating bits and printed instructions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice kit, easy to use but take your time for best results, August 25, 2007

This comes with two snow globe kits. Each kit has a glass sphere, rubber seal, and a wooden base. You need to purchse separately some silicone sealer, like you'd use to seal the bathtub or a fishtank.

You can use the silicone to glue an item to the rubber seal. I was just putting some small seashells and beach sand from a recent trip in mine, so I didn't do this.

Add water to the globe. The instructions recommend some alcohol to prevent bacteria, and some glycerin to break surface tension. Then push the rubber seal in the globe, being careful to get out all the air bubbles.

I put some water into a bowl, and held the globe underwater while pushing on one side of the seal to let the last few air bubbles escape. I also found that more bubbles appeared overnight, probably air trapped in the shells or sand, so you might want to let things soak for a few days to make sure there are no bubbles inside your globe.

After the rubber seal has had time to completely dry, apply some silicone sealant, and let that dry. Then you can use silicone sealant to glue the whole thing in the wooden base.

My finished globe looks great, and is a nice reminder of my trip.

3.0 out of 5 stars works well, but much smaller than I thought, January 2, 2012

I bought this kit for my daughter as she loves snowglobes. She made a little polymer clay figure and we glued it inside. It works really well, although it is a bit tricky getting the rubber stopper right up inside. I had thought they would be big snowglobes, but they were really only about 3 inches high inside the glass. If you are making them, track down some glycerin first- helps to slow the fall of the snow inside the water. Although this came with a bag of snow, we added some glitter too.
