POETRY, June 13, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Snow Poems, First Snow (Paperback)
"Making it snow in the sub-tropics is a task for the gods. Dave Brinks makes big, fat, lyrical snowflakes that keep coming down, and that will last as long as poetry does. Snowmaker Brinks is a New Orleans treasure." -- Andrei Codrescu

It's a wonder with words like these that the sun decides to leave the plates behind long enough to cause a chill. This and other things are all true about New Orleans poets who dream so big.

POETRY, June 12, 2000

This review is from: The Snow Poems, First Snow (Paperback)
"The Snow Poems is a cool photo-negative of the tropics. Reading these wonderful poems is like playing with one of those spheres you turn upside down to make it snow inside. Brinks turns the world on its head, then his lovely, startling words filter down, seducing the reader into an original climate of the mind." -- James Nolan
