4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, February 21, 2001

When you read reviews of Jordan's work on Amazon or other places, you usually get two extremes: they either say it's terrible and not worth a cent, or they think it's the greatest work of literature since Shakespeare.

Of course, neither is true. Because the entire series is really, really big, and extremely epic, you can't expect Jordan to cram everything into a single chapter. It's the entire arc of the story that is so brilliant.

"Snow" is a great stand alone chapter. WINTER'S HEART has already been released, so I can't really see why you would get this and not the book (unless you were dying for an e-book). But all in all, this chapter is quite fun. We learn some new Aes Sedai secrets, get to read a lot about the Black Tower, as well as witness a fantastic scene in which friendships are made stronger.

As another reviewer pointed out, Jordan does have his own style of writing and that shows here. But if you're read all this other stuff (which you probably have), than this is the same as you have come to know and remember.

And for what it's worth, Winter's Heart is a fantastic addition to the series. This chapter, is one of the best in it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it for a digital version, April 8, 2004
I am an avid fan of Robert Jordan's books and have read most of what he has written as well as purchased most of what he has written. I do not understand why there has been a trend to take a full legnth book and split it into parts and sell the parts seperately. The only ones who win there are the publishers and salespeople. This section being sold is great section but payt the addional $10 and the get the full book. The only reason to buy this is to say that you have a e-version of something. GO on the net and find an e-version of something for free. Then buy the original book in full legnth. You will enjoy it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Truly disappointing...., November 15, 2000
By
Returning to Mr. Jordan's work once again, I am amazed at how amateurish the writing is. I would think that Jordan's narrative technique would begin to show maturity after the first two or three installments of this sensely drawn out tale but, as of yet, it hasn't. "Snow" clearly demonstrates that he is up to his same old tricks, employing the same bloated metaphors and congested dialogue and prose that is typical of the previous 8 books in the series. If you are a fan of Jordan's previous books, you'll find much of the same in these pages and will likely be pleased. If you, like me, are continually frustrated with Jordan's style, you would do best to stay away and save your money.
