This environmentally-sustainable product is created from reclaimed North American hardwood that has been carefully selected for quality and purchased from mills throughout the country. The board is then hand-crafted by skilled woodworkers in Wisconsin--an area known for its rich woodworking tradition. Wood is hand-sanded and finished with a food-grade oil to protect it against cracking and warping. Periodic treatment with wood oil (Snow Rivers own brand is recommended) and hand washing and drying will keep this carving board in good-as-new condition. --Cristina Vaamonde

I had one of these boards years ago, and I gave it away when I stopped baking bread. When I rekindled my old hobby, I desperately wanted one of these beautiful boards again. It is the same quality as my old Snow River board and is just as sturdy and well made. However, the wood was very dry when it arrived and the sides of the board needed to be sanded, as they were very rough. After the initial "touch ups," it is looking great and was able to be put into service immediately.
If you make homemade bread, you'll love this board. If you just do a lot of vegetable chopping, it works fantastically for that as well. But if you do both, get two boards (to avoid cross-contamination of flavors). It's an heirloom purchase that, with good care, should last several generations!

This board is perfect for kneading, stretching/folding, and shaping bread dough. Wood has been my preferred medium because it's warmer than a kitchen counter top. The size of the board makes it perfect for shaping baguettes. While the front lip is helpful in keeping the board in place, it still did move around a bit on my slippery counter. Placing a non-skid rug pad remnant under the board completely secured it. Best of all, it's made in the USA.

Much better than the largest cutting board for meats it sits right on the counter top and doesn't roll away when you work the dough with your pin. Plenty of space and if used exclusively for pie and pasta things they will not pick up the taste of other things that touched the boarb. A satisfying puchase in a size that is just right when rolling out 12" pies with room for rolling pin handle to travel in all directions over the dough. Somethinmg wanted for a long time that is really nice.
