I bought this book several years ago as a gift but never gave it to the child. It is a beautiful book, and I felt that she would not appreciate it as much as I did. I found it recently and gave it to my 2-year-old daughter. Even though she has lots of other books, this has become her absolute favorite bedtime story. I'm not sure that she completely understands all of it, but she certainly feels the magical quality and rhythm of it. She also loves the beautiful, dreamy illustrations. We never get tired of reading it.
