I went to the snowstopper website and found measurements to take for these mittens, so I knew they would fit my 3-year-old's hands. Indeed, they are a perfect, snug fit, which is what I wanted so she can pick things up without a lot of extra mitten getting in the way. I also ordered the next size up, just to be sure, and they were too big (as they're supposed to be) so I'll save them for next year.

We live in a very cold, snowy climate, and my daughter used to be able to stay outside only about 10 minutes because her hands would be freezing. All our other mittens were either too thin or kept coming off or weren't waterproof. The first time we used these mittens, she stayed out for an hour! I finally get to go outside! And they didn't fall off once! They are waterproof, but the material is so soft that she can still use her hands. Most waterproof mittens are stiff and bulky. Plus there's a grippy part on the palm. The 'sock' part that goes up the arm is also soft and cozy.

They are maybe slightly harder to put on than other mittens, but not much. Now that my daughter knows how much she loves them, she's extra willing to cooperate too! I just tell her to hold her thumb out so I can nudge it into the thumb hole. Bottom line is these mittens are amazing! The price is a steal! They will change your outdoor experiece completely from a constant cold struggle into warm, carefree fun. I love them. If you want to measure, here is their size chart:

Mitten measurements from fingertip to wrist are as follows:

Xtra Small 4"

Small 4-1/2"

Medium 5"

Large 5-1/2"

These measuring instructions were exactly right for us. Just as a side note, I found the pink to be less vibrant than it appeared on my monitor, but honestly they could be any color and I'd love them because of now perfectly they work! Still a nice pink color.

For some reason the product description does not mention that the gloves contain PVC, a material I try to avoid because it is unhealthy for kids and adults. Sent back.

Anytime there is snow we try to take our kids out to enjoy it (ages 3.5 and 1.5), but the biggest hurdle we have encountered have been their hands. Most of the mittens we have are not waterproof, requiring constant changing and even those that are allow snow to get in and/or fall off. I ordered these on Friday with overnight shipping and received them Saturday. We couldn't be happier with this purchase. I had no problem getting them on my 3.5 y/o, including the thumb. I just put them on before the coat. To be clear, these are for snow play, not everyday use, but they are invaluable if you want your child to enjoy the snow. We were able to play in the snow today for well over an hour with no problems at all. She was able to really put her hands in the snow, making snow balls, etc., which she has never been able to do before. I highly recommend! I even ordered a second pair for my 18 m/o.

My son is 16 mos so we ordered the 18 mos size. The mittens don't have a thumb compartment for this size. They're more like waterproof socks for baby hands. They're well made, but at my son's age, he wants to use his hands to grab things and needs a bigger glove.

I ordered these mittens because my 18 month old refuses to keep her gloves on. This product is high quality, keeps her hands warm, and she can't get them off. Worth the money to keep her little fingers warm!

These are better than what I expected. The elbow length lining is a great concept and that's why I bought it. But what I could not see from the picture is that the gloves have very soft lining inside and the palm side is covered with non-slip rubber-like material to improve grip. Haven't tried it yet in the snow, but can't wait for it to fall so that we can go out and play!

We LOVE these. We have bought two different pairs so far. Small when they were 1 years old. Medium when they were 2 and 3. I am going to buy a large for my soon to be 4 year old.

I have no problem with getting my oldest thumb into position into her mediums. But for both, the smalls are almost impossible to get a thumb into position, BUT I don't think that is a problem, they have ample room in the outer part, and they have such tiny thumbs at that age that I doubt it is much use to segregate them.

I pull the sleeve over her coat... you could do either.

We usually stay outside for an hour, and both come in with warm hands.

Very satisfied and worth the price - although kids grow fast - be prepared to buy a different size each year.

Bought these for my daughter for a planned ski trip next year. As previously stated the x-small does not have a thumb but as my daughter's hand is so small anyway I don't really think a thumb would work. They will be fine for a bit of fun in the snow and the arm cuff makes them much easier to put on and stay on!
