Book Description

Start-Up Sports, No 2 October 1993
Here is the essential beginner’s guide to the fastest growing sport in the country according to the National Sporting Goods Association. The most important questions—how to stop, how to turn, and how to avoid the crash and burn syndrome—are answered because the author takes the reader along as he learns the sport himself. Basic gear, preparation, technique, and safety are also discussed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for any prospective Snowboarder, January 11, 2004

This review is from: Snowboarder's Start-Up!: A Beginner's Guide to Snowboarding (Start-Up Sports, No 2) (Paperback)
I usually don't bother reviewing, but this book is exceptional!
I got it (and about 4 other Snowboarding books, which were too long and intimidating) when I started learning how to snowboard.
This book gave me all the basic moves and techniques I needed to get on the slopes and make the most out of the two classes I took. By the third time on the snow I was turning, carving and feeling great about my progress.

Concise and easy to understand, highly recommended, Don't bother with any other book!

2.0 out of 5 stars "If you're not falling down, you're not risking enough" ?, January 2, 2012

This book seems okay, if you want to learn to go down the mountain in a permanent twist with your shoulders square to the board, your knees torqued, and your hands out like you're directing an orchestra. The quote from page 66 'if you're not falling down at all, you're probably not risking enough in your training' is the best, though.

There are some good books out there, and some good instructive online resources. I suggest you check those out instead.
