1.0 out of 5 stars Top 10 Reasons Not to Buy this Video, February 25, 2002

Top 10 Reasons Not to Buy this Video
10. It was made in 1994. (Probably not a bad video in its time.)
9. The cheesy music will drive you crazy.
8. Kevin has a mustache and a matching ski outfit.
7. Shauna (the student) doesn't have a microphone, but talks anyway.
6. It's 30 minutes long.
5. The level is on the advanced side of basic--not intermediate.
4. It may even be less than 30 minutes long, now that I think about it. Definitely less than 30 if you don't count the credits.
3. Get "The Illustrated Guide to Snowboarding" by Kevin Ryan instead. It's a book, but covers everything very well with words and illustrations.
2. You already know how to carve, do garlands and skidded turns.
1. You can have my used copy if you pay shipping. On second thought, I'll send it for free.

2.0 out of 5 stars Unintentionally funny, February 6, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Snowboarding:Intermediate [VHS] (VHS Tape)
A snowboarding video that concentrates on carving technique. It's kind of funny in an unintentional way. The instructor reminds you of Rick Moranis who is "instructing" a largely wordless and expressionless blond woman named Shawna in dark sunglasses who is at least a foot taller than he is (Ok she's probably his wife or sister, but. . .). The film cuts away several times probably because Shawna is about to fall on her head. You keep expecting him to ask Shawna for a date, or for Shawna to whop him upside the head, but alas, most of the video is just watching them talk and Shawna carve. Not bad, but not very detailed or instructive.
