Just too flat for me, January 19, 2008
This review is from: Snowbound With Mr. Right (Harlequin Romance #3991; Mistletoe & Marriage #2) (Mass Market Paperback)
On the surface, this is a sweet story. Sally's family has died recently, leaving her alone to run the family store. Hunter, a "city slicker" comes to learn the ropes of the country store from Sally and to buy her out.
Along the way, the two fall in love and live HEA.
The problem is "along the way."
Along the way, Sally is sanctimonious, always telling Hunter things like "in these country stores, we're nice to our customers. That's why they come back." Like people in cities are all barbarians. She mistrusts EVERYTHING he says and does, when he's been up-front, honest, nice, and respectful from page one.
And that's a problem with his character. While she's a prig, he's perfect. He does everything withough complaint. He's beautiful, he's rich, he's unfailingly nice. He's also BORING. I think he must have had a frontal lobotomy before this story took place.
The writing is also not captivating. Hell, I had to force myself to finish it.
Hunter is too perfect and pat. Sally is condescending and saccharine. There is very little plot outside their romance, and their romance is boring.
I did not like this, Sam I Am, and I will not be reading any more of this author's books.

Boring, flat characters, January 18, 2008
This review is from: Snowbound With Mr. Right (Harlequin Romance #3991; Mistletoe & Marriage #2) (Mass Market Paperback)
The characters were so boring and one-dimensional I could barely finish the book. The plot wasn't that great either. What a disappointment. The description was misleading, too.

Great Read!, January 17, 2008
This review is from: Snowbound With Mr. Right (Harlequin Romance #3991; Mistletoe & Marriage #2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a great page turner. I could not put the book down. This story is about love at first sight as well as loss. Both of the main characters were great and complimented each other. This is a real life fairy tale.
