5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Story
I found this book to be a wonderful, engaging story that stands head and shoulders above most of the other books in this line. The hero, John Fallon, is a tragic one. 3.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and well done
This was a well paced and sweet book. I like that the characters didn't spend so much time dancing around their misunderstanding just to drag the book out. I also liked the believable handling of PTSD. I only gave it 3 stars because while it's not the best book I've ever read but it was a pleasant read. I'd recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Story, December 17, 2007
I found this book to be a wonderful, engaging story that stands head and shoulders above most of the other books in this line. The hero, John Fallon, is a tragic one. Suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome after experiences in Iraq, he has fled to the Cascade mountains to try and recover. My favorite heroes are always the tragic ones and John is a perfect example; he has been beaten down by life and his only hope is to find love that will be his salvation. In this moving and uplifting story, John is ultimately healed by the power of love and is able to move forward and truly live once again. All readers of romantic tales believe in the power of love, and this story is ultimately very satisfying.

This book was absolutely warming to the soul. Love does not need perfection as most people seem to look for someone perfect. I was always taught don't look for someone you can live with, but find someone you can't live without. That was my take away of this book. When each appeared to go their separate ways they still felt each other to the ends that each was willing to do whatever necessary to make it work, change jobs, change venue, get help, whatever it took because they really could not live without each other. Nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars A whiteout love story..., April 11, 2009
By
Albeit this is not a whiteout thriller but a blizzard love story it's a good one. You'll never expect that end and just for that is worth reading it. As many vet's stories you can't say this is a cute one but you can say is a good one.

If you want to read a whiteout thriller read "Whiteout" by Ken Follett or "Chill Factor" by Sandra Brown but mind you, although these are very good books you can't compare them with this one 'cause these are thrillers. Not love stories

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good story & writing, August 19, 2009

I'm truly surprised at the number of people who didn't like this story. I love romance novels, but am extremely picky about the quality of the writing and the believability of the story and characters. I received this as a free download on my Kindle and was pleasantly surprised to find the story so engaging. I had no trouble relating to the characters and understanding their feelings and reactions. I highly recommend this book and this author, assuming that her other writing is as intelligent.

I got this book free for my kindle and was pleasantly surprised. It was a pretty quick read and while there were some slow parts, overall the character development was nicely done and I'd recommend it for those who want a tender romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fabulous Read!, November 8, 2007
By

Outside, a storm is raging...

When a blizzard strands Fiona MacPherson and her students in Oregon's Cascade Mountains, their only hope of survival is to seek shelter at Thunder Mountain Lodge. Their host is John Fallon, a handsome, enigmatic war veteran haunted by secrets and scars that may never heal.

John Fallon never imagined he'd be playing host to this captivating teacher and her eight teenage charges. But when his solitude is shattered by their arrival, his world shifts on its axis. He needs Fiona--but does she need him? There's only one way to find out. The ex-soldier must find the courage to reach out to the remarkable woman who has transformed his life....

Janice Kay Johnson is one of my favorite authors, and SNOWBOUND is another winner! I always recommend any fellow romance readers to give her books a try. The characters are heart-felt, the story is moving, and the romance is lovely.

This novel is head and shoulders above the average for this genre. The plotting is natural and believable, and the character development shows that the author has done thorough research. The heroine, Fiona, strikes an excellent balance between compassion and love for the traumatized John, and refusal to be his enabler. The underlying message is a powerful and positive one. I look forward to reading future books from Ms. Johnson.

5.0 out of 5 stars touching, March 23, 2011

This book was a free download for my kindle and I am so satisfied with it. For some reason this book touched my heart and in less than a years time I've read it twice. I have no relation to the story but it was real and true and I loved how the main character fiona walked away so as not to enable johns demons. How hard it must be to live with ptsd but to have someone there to work with you to help you and push you to heal that's the touching part....she never gave up its easy to throw inthe towel its hard to make it work. U always read books where the hero is this perfect man with no issues here to save the damsel well here she is the one that's doing the saving and I just loved it! Read this book its worth it!

4.0 out of 5 stars relaxing winter love story, March 23, 2010

I used to call books like these small romances "bathtub books" meaning that I could read them in the tub when I really just wanted to turn my brain off and not really think. Sort of a vacation from quality fiction. For a "bathtub book" it was well written. It followed the typical plot of all of them with some surprising additions that made it unique in its own right. I recommend it as a simple relaxing love story that doesn't require a lot of thought.
