"Snowbound" is a heartwarming contemporary romance story about Robyn Montgomery a career driven radio station manager and Sean Trenton a previous Olympian skier turned ski patroller.

Robyn is forced to return to her home near a world famous ski resort for a reunion where many traumatic memories from her high school years await.

Sean loves his work as a ski patroller but is haunted by repercussions from a very unfortunate illness he endured 2 years previously. This hero is drop dead gorgeous (just look at the book's cover art and you will see what I mean - lol) and epitomizes everything women find so attractive about snow patrollers.

What made this book a keeper for me was that I could identify with the characters, especially Robyn. Larissa spins a beautiful romance between Robyn and Sean filled with conflicts and tension. The attraction between them is electric and the love scenes are sensual and gentle.

Snowbound is one of my favorite contemporary romance stories this year and I highly recommend the read.

Plot Summary: Former Olympic skier Sean Trenton left racing and his glitzy lifestyle two years ago when an injury ended his career. Now he's an EMT and works ski patrol at an alpine resort. Robyn Montgomery is the music director at a Chicago radio station and her life starts falling apart piece by piece. Her ten-year high school reunion is supposed to prove to her old tormentors that this former chubby misfit is now a success, but Robyn's comeback is headed for disaster when her ex-boyfriend backs out of his promises and further sabotages her career. When Robyn meets Sean in a bar, they're both just looking for a fling, but deeper feelings quickly develop.

I thought this one was a tad bland, which is a bummer because I very much enjoy Ione's Demonica series. Maybe it's just me, because lately when I try a standard contemporary romance, without any danger or paranormal elements, I have a hard time getting excited. I thought the Kindle edition was a great deal (four dollars and change), but I wouldn't recommend buying the paperback for $10. It's just not good enough to justify that price.

Robyn's transformation from the fat strudel-stuffed daughter of the town's bakers, to a thin, successful radio station director might rub readers the wrong way; I'm not saying that being healthy is bad, but the way Robyn obsesses over her weight is a bit depressing. Her desperation to gain acceptance from her high school cohorts was also sad. To me, Robyn represented a lot of those typical female traits that I hate, but I'm forced to acknowledge that it was all plausible and realistic.

Sean is one of those nice guy characters who are pleasant to read. We learn that he was a shallow jerk back in his hey-day, but he's already been humbled by his accident from two years ago. He has a few dumb-dumb moments, but he's never malicious in his omissions with Robyn. This story features one of those `trapped in a cabin by snow' scenes, which I'll admit is one of my favorite romantic fantasies. Also, women who lusted for the best skier on the mountain will definitely enjoy this tale. Unfortunately, I never got a sense of the passion and heat I'm used to seeing in Ione's other novels. This was a nice read, but ultimately forgettable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely enjoyed this one, August 30, 2011
This review is from: Snowbound (Kindle Edition)
I just finished Snowbound and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. I'm normally not the biggest fan of contemporary stories, but this one was done really well. I honestly couldn't put this book down.

I loved the character of Sean. He was real and honest. I like that he wasn't afraid to let his feelings be known. He was definitely a charmer and I loved getting to know him.

As for Robyn, she may seem strong and dependent to others, but with her we see someone who is battling with self-confidence issues that stem from her teens. She just wants to be accepted by others and I love how Sean helps her realize that she is a truly beautiful inside and out.

I really enjoyed these two together. The sparks between them were evident from the beginning and when they finally came together it was electric. I definitely enjoyed seeing these two get their HEA.

3.0 out of 5 stars A sexy read, April 18, 2011
This review is from: Snowbound (Kindle Edition)
[...]

Larissa Ione is one of my all time favourite paranormal authors (Demonica, Lords of Deliverance & ACRO as Sydney Croft) so I am not surprised I also loved her Contemporary Romance, Snowbound.

Robyn Montgomery has a successful career as a radio station manager and is returning to her hometown to attend her ten year school reunion and to host a charity auction to raise money for underprivileged kids, Damon her ex & boss had agreed to help emcee but at the last minute withdraws leaving her having to source someone with a high profile to help out with the event.

Robyn spent her adolescent years being ridiculed by her peers for being overweight, insecure and geeky so she sets off to show she has lost her weight, is sexy, confident and successful. The reunion and event is her chance to prove to herself she is no longer the person she was as a teen.

Sean Trenton is a world-famous skier and former Olympian, now working at the ski resort as a patroller and EMT, he is trying to get his life back together after an injury that destroyed his hopes of achieving a gold medal and a medical condition which left him feeling inadequate as a man.

When Robyn meets Sean in the resort bar, she tries to avoid him due to his popularity and past fame but he is a temptation Robyn finds hard to resist, there is an immediate connection & some scorching chemistry between them and Sean sets his sights on getting her into bed after 2 years of celibacy.

After getting to know Robyn, Sean realised she was just what he was looking for in a long term relationship, something he had never wanted before and it was also something he had to work on with Robyn since she was so adamant she didn't want someone with such a high media profile.

It was a slow build up for their relationship to really take hold with a lot of misunderstandings, deceit and drama but I enjoyed them having to work together through the emotional baggage to get to their HEA and Sean really showed he cared for her; I wish Robyn made more of an effort to show she cared for Sean outside of the bedroom (or the cabin) as what he did for her.

It was an enjoyable, sexy, sensual fast paced read, a bit too much emotional baggage & woe is me from the heroine but a very likeable hero.

A gorgeous, sexy cover!!

3.5/5

I liked this book and was hooked from page one. The characters were believable and the chemistry between the h/h was hot. I liked that there was depth to them and it wasn't just sex sex sex and more sex every time they got together. They had witty dialogue, as well as each having their own demons to work through before they could fully commit to what was building between them. All in all a truly worthy story!

4.0 out of 5 stars A sexy read with believable characters!, November 15, 2010
This review is from: Snowbound (Paperback)
I have read a lot of hype about this book in the erotica reviews. When I finally got my hands on a copy of this book, I was excited to jump into the story.

Robyn Montgomery has just come out of a bad relationship with a guy named Damon, who in my honest opinion was a jerk! He never truly deserved Robyn in the first place and I was glad to see her get rid of him. Sean is a former Olympic Skier and has now taken up the career of a ski patroller. When the two of them meet at a ski lodge, the sexual tensions and sparks were instantly a hit. I loved the two of them together.

The writing was great with few flaws in my opinion. The story progressed at a great pace for an erotica story. What was great is how the author incorporated an actual story into a sexually charged read. Most erotic reads are just sex, sex, and more sex. The author made sure that their was a story between the sheets of this sexy romp.

After finishing this book within hours, I can't wait to check and see what other stories in this genre the author has out. A great new author to add to my list of sexy and erotic reads!

3.5, actually. I've seen so much of the ski scene in contemporary romances that maybe I'm getting "jaded"? But there was a decent story told here as well as some good romance, so maybe it was worth it.

None of the characters were worth caring about. They were all shallow as was this book. Reminded me of one of the silly, early contemporary Harlequin romances.
