5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Christmas pop albums
Everyone else here has this as a 5 star CD, and I concur. This disc emphasises what is good about the Christmas season: fun, happiness, family, good cheer and underlying it all a sense of the real spiritual significance of the season. Now, I know that a lot of hastily-turned-out Christmas "product" gets made each year, often by the most fashionable and saleable singing...

3.0 out of 5 stars Just ok
Honestly, I am not a huge fan of the CD. While there is no denying that these three are very talented, I felt like most every song on this CD sounded the same.
The exceptions were the last two songs, "Silent Night Medley," and "White Christmas," which I thought were well done and sounded great.
Unless you are a big Hanson fan, I would skip this one.

Everyone else here has this as a 5 star CD, and I concur. This disc emphasises what is good about the Christmas season: fun, happiness, family, good cheer and underlying it all a sense of the real spiritual significance of the season. Now, I know that a lot of hastily-turned-out Christmas "product" gets made each year, often by the most fashionable and saleable singing stars of that particular time, and that in November 1997, when Snowed In was released, Hanson was perhaps the hottest teenage act in the pop charts, so there was a risk that their record company would have them sing a stock-standard pile of carols and old-time Christmas songs and turn a quick profit. The Hanson boys however made the most of this one-time opportunity while they rode this wave of instant popularity by writing three excellent original Christmas songs of their own and doing eight covers including a lovely medley of O Holy Night/ Silent Night/ O Come All Ye Faithful, a spirited version of What Christmas Means To Me and rocking versions of Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree and Run Rudolph Run. This album then was markedly superior to a lot of the uninspired holiday-season releases that clutter up record store Christmas displays each year at this time.

But the originals are just wonderful. At Christmas is a warm-hearted ballad that glows with good feelings and family togetherness. Christmas Time is a mid-paced winner with memorable choruses, while Everybody Knows The Claus is pure fun set to a rock guitar riff. Isaac, Taylor and Zac are terrific at what they do, and their lovely brotherly harmony singing infuses this collection with a family vibe that is totally infectious.

If, like me, you love Hanson's music, or you are searching for an entertaining pop album of Christmas songs for the young or young-at-heart, then this album is for you. It has just received a re-release too, with slightly-different cover design as part of the 20th Century Masters series.

first of all this is a great cd with wonderful singing and 3 of hanson's own christmas songs.

1. Merry Christmas Baby- Taylor Hanson sings lead on this song his voice has changed a little since their first cd "Middle of Nowhere". just so everyone is clear he is sing: "sure did treat me nice." you can find these lyrics and other lyrics at- http://lyrics.astraweb.com .
2. What Christmas means to me - Zac sings lead, his voice has changed too, not to worry though he basically sound same and still energy packing.
3. Little Saint nick- i love the beat of this song, Issac sings lead this time and is totally rockin on his guitar!!!
4. At Christmas - a song that hanson wrote, Issac sings lead again in this calm quiet melody.
5.Christmas (baby please come home)- probably my favorite song on this cd though i like them all. taylor is singing lead- i love the way he sounds in this song.
6 Rockin around the christmas tree- not the best song on this cd but still good, zac is singing lead.
7.Christmas time- another song written by hanson themselves. Taylor sings lead.
8.Everybody knows the claus- a very fun up beat christmas song written by hanson- Taylor sings lead.
9.Run Rudolph Run- nice song Issac sings lead.
10. Silent night Medley- All three hansons sing this song.
11.White Christmas- short song i believe the hanson family sings this all together if you wait until the end of this track you here their brother mackenzie say a cute message.

all and all i love this cd along with their first cd "middle of nowhere" so check it and buy it! - michelle g

Out of all of Hanson's Cds I would rate this his best ever. "Merry Christmas Baby" is my most favorite of his songs on this CD and there are many other classic songs to listen to. Over all, I would reccomend this CD to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Snowed In-- A Christmas Jewel, December 8, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Snowed in (Audio CD)
Well it's that time of year again. Old Jack Frost has put a nip in the air and it's time to start decking the halls, hanging the mistletoe, and stuffing the stockings. It's time to make the season burn bright with merriment and what better way to do it than to pop Snowed In into your CD player. If this album doesn't get you into the Spirit of Christmas, nothing will!

From the first few notes of "Merry Christmas Baby" you just know that this is going to be one rockin' Christmas album. Not only does Hanson pay homage to the great Christmas classics of our time in such songs as the Beach Boys' "Little Saint Nick", Phil Spector's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)," Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", Irving Berlin's "White Christmas" and the traditional "Silent Night Medley: O Holy Night/ Silent Night/ O Come All Ye Faithful", they penned three of their own Christmas inspired renditions to show case their wonderful brotherly harmonies.

"Everybody Knows the Claus" is a spirited, upbeat song that every young at heart will surely love, as they sing about the jolly, old man in red. "Christmas Time" reminds us all to find the love our hearts but especially at this special time of year. And the third charm, my favorite, "At Christmas" is a beautiful, warm song that reminds me of my childhood Christmases, and I think it's destined to be a future classic.

And not to be forgotten, the energized melodies of "What Christmas Means to Me" and "Run Rudolph Run" are sure to add a little zip to your eggnog, as you trim the family tree and wrap the gifts bought so carefully with love.

So while you and your family are having some holiday fun and making some special family memories together this year, be sure you have this wonderful Christmas album playing throughout the holiday season. It's guaranteed to put a warm smile on your face, a twinkle in your eye and spring in your step. There won't be a Scrooge or Grinch in sight. Forget the cozy blankets and fire...

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow

"Everyone knows the Claus" is bound to make me laugh. I don't know about you, but it makes me laugh, such a unique way of looking at jolly ol' St Nick! "Silent Night Medley" is a beautiful mix of "O Holy Night", "Silent Night" and "O come all ye Faithful", I love the way it sounds. "At Christmas" and "Christmas Time" are deep, appropiate songs for Christmas, written by the guys themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars MERRY CHRISTMAS BABY, November 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Snowed in (Audio CD)
Snowed In displays the wide range of styles of music Hanson really can pre-form. From the deep, sad songs such as "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" to the catchy, get-up-and-boogie tunes like "Run Run Rudolph" and "The Clause" you the teriffic tunes won't die out. The 3 songs they wrote, "The Clause", "Christmas Time", and "At Christmas" not only have great melodies but funny, welcoming lyrics. "Silent Night Medley" is just, he most. It has everything you need, from the harmony, to Ike's crisp voice, to Tay's raspy one, and to Zac's deep, developed voice. I tell ya, this CD is a peice of artwork! Unique, ear-catching, and over-all amazing!! Snowed In makes you want to have Christmas RIGHT now. Just the sound of it means one thing, Christmas. And no one could have set a better reputation for Christmas. This is the way Christmas music is meant to be. So go out, buy the album, and . . . MERRY CHRISTMAS BABY!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Required Christmas Listening, December 18, 2005
This review is from: Snowed in (Audio CD)
This Christmas CD is filled with Christmas cheer with songs ranging from popular Christmas music like "Merry Christmas Baby" to standards like "Silent Night" to a few songs that the band made up themselves like "Christmas Time." The guys are adept at taking cover songs and making them their own with a unique style filled with energy. The CD opens and closes with the sound of static associated with old record players, a nice touch. However, the recording is clear and enjoyable.

Of course, some might shy away from buying this disk because it was made by a popular boy band of the late 90s. However, Hanson is no N*Sync. They play their own instruments as well as harmonize, proving that even at such young ages, they abound with talent. But regardless of who Hanson is or how popular they used to be, this CD is a staple of my Christmas season and could easily fit into your traditions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, November 15, 2004

Hanson is not usually one of my favorite artists, but this is a wonderful CD. A lot of other Christmas CDs are slower and can get rather redundant. Snowed In is a fresh, upbeat CD that I listen to all year! So, if you are tired of listening to the same version of all the classics, this CD is for you. Several of the songs they wrote themselves even!
My favorite song on this album would have to be Silent Night medley however. It is a powerful blend of Silent Night, O Holy Night and O Come All Ye Faithful.
Overall, I give this CD a 5 star rating and highly recommend it.

This album has a unanimous 5-stars (64 reviews now?) I'd love to give it a 4 and be the spoiler...but I'd be lying. This thing's great! I'm very jaded on Christmas music but these Hanson dudes rarely miss on *any* song they do.

Highlights:

Little Saint Nick. This is at least the 3rd version I've heard (including the Beach Boys and....the Muppets) but this is IT! It's playing in my headphones right now. Crank this one and cut a rug.

Silent Night Medly. The boys really make the traditionals come to life. "....O hear the angel voices!"

White Christmas. Amusingly done as an old 78 and a at the VERY end a little Hanson-ling scratching said record....

The 3 original tunes are classic Hanson magic!

I'm not exactly the stereotypical Hanson fan (about 20 years too old and too many Y chromosomes) but they're one of the best groups I've ever heard. Also be sure to check out "This Time Around"--it's DA BOMB!
