I sent out many hundreds of invitations to adoptive families to contribute vignettes from their adoption experiences. The responses from adoptees and their families is what you find in this book. All contributions were included, so there is a spectrum of experiences and points of view. One adoptive mom wrote to me because she was concerned that the book would show only a "sugar-coated" side of adoption. Nope. This book tells about challenges and tough experiences as well as the positives. I was amazed throughout the project at how honest and open the contributors were.

More About the Author

Teresa is a wife, mom of three, teacher of languages, and writer. She has lived all over the US and in Spain and Peru. She began her adoption-specific language CD/handbook series in 1999, two years after she and her family adopted a son from Russia. ('Adopting from Russia, a Language and Parenting Guide'; 'RUSH Into English, Russian to English for Children'; 'Adopting from China ~ Mandarin'; and 'Adopting from Latin America'). Teresa has taught in northern Arizona for 23 years. She is an advocate for children and speaks regularly on the topic of adoption. Her newest book, 'Snowflakes, a Flurry of Adoption Stories by, for and about Children and Teens,' is a compilation of over 200 stories that gives views of and feelings about adoption before, during, and after children join their forever families. Her goal is for her latest book to reach all who have a connection with and/or interest in adoption so that they can read about adoption from the perspective of young adoptees and their families. It's an excellent resource for prospective foster and adoptive parents as well as all who work with children. One of her favorite quotations is by Goethe: "Whatever you can, or dream you can, begin it; boldness has genius, power, magic in it."

This book really touches the heart. It includes all views of adoption and has real stories from adopted children and there families. This book is a "must have" for anyone who has ever adopted, been adopted, will adopt, or has dreams to adopt one day.

I started reading this truly amazing book and I could not put it down until I finished. The personal experiences from all sides of adoption were so inspirational. I laughed, shed tears, and felt joy as I read the pages. Snowflakes: A Flurry of Adoption Stories is a must read. It expresses in words that families come in many forms and from many places, it is the love that binds them. Five stars are not enough - This book will enlighten and inpire you. Teresa, Katie, and Paul did a magnificent job of expressing all aspects of adoption. A heartfelt thanks to all that shared their experiences. This book is for all who appreciate the family unit and understand that all families are unique.
