Nature's finest performance art abounds in these delicate photos of one-of-a-kind disappearing acts. Each one a treasure for contemplation; some so beautiful as to defy description (page 188 for instance). It is such a relief to NOT be bombarded with glitz and hard-sell so prevalent in everything our eyes come in contact with these days. Thank you to Mr. Libbrecht for his contribution to beauty for the libraries of time. As an additional exploration and compliment to this work, you should try any book by Masaru Emoto on snowflakes ("The Hidden Messages of Water" is fascinating); and check out Libbrecht's field guide to snowflakes as well. To see them momentarily appear on your mitten in winter, and then revisit their splendor captured in print is a gift. You don't need a TV or VCR or an expensive wide-screen--all you need is the book, a chair, some light, and a good cup of coffee--be with yourself for a few minutes and have a conversation with miracles.

A neat book of actual pictures taken of snowcrystals. An even better one by the same artist is "The Art of the Snowflake", which is a larger book and has more written content.

I purchased this book to go with another book, "Snowflake Bentley" about the man who first figured out how to photograph snowflakes. I will use them with school age children. This book was well priced, in good shape and has 100's of amazing color photos of ice crystals and snowflakes as well as a few photos of winter landscapes and lots of nice quotes about winter, snow and ice and a few facts about the snowflakes and ice crystals.

This BOOK is spectacular - takes you back to being a kid and seeing Crystals fall from the Sky. Great Coffee Table Book.

I bought this book for the sole purpose of just looking at snowflake photographs but have found myself becoming lost in their symmetry where I not only look, but study the amazing variety and shapes. Each photograph draws my breath as I contemplate the incomprehensible beauty of design.

Our last name is snow...so I tend to have a thing anything related to our last name. This book is great to have on your coffee table or to use as illustrations for children lessons on how each snowflake is different. If you want more scientific answers for snoflakes and such there are other books out there, but for me...this one will do nicely. It incorporates quotes from various sources which is a nice touch. The photographs are breathtaking and I highly recommend this book.

Superb collection of snowflake photography done by someone who travels around the world capturing the beauty of this unique subject. Each page has a full page photo.

My sweetheart had been unable to find this book, thanks to Amazon.com I was able to find it with their help and brighten her christmas morning.

i saw an interview with the author/photographer on the CBS Sunday morning program a few weeks ago. I wondered how he could take the minute and almost instant melt of a snowlfake to photograph it. the pictures are truly amazing. Each one has its own distinct characteristic. Each intricate flake is just a interesting as the next one featured. Good coffee table book.
