5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect mix of holiday and soul
I have to admit that I was skeptical before listening to this abosolutely flawless collection. The thing that I hate about most christmas albums is that they're all just rehashing songs that were probably done better by earlier artists. Not so in Toni's case.

The vast majority of the material is original, rhytmic, well orchestrated, and soulfully delivered. It's a holiday album that stands on its own and can really be played all year round.

I think this is one of the best non-christmas (christmas) albums i've ever heard. Great compositions, arrangements, and flawlessly sung by Ms. Braxton.

A can't miss Christmas Album

5.0 out of 5 stars "Snowflakes"- is a MASTERPIECE, October 23, 2001
This review is from: Snowflakes (Audio CD)
This album will be a SureFire Hit throughout the holiday season and Even After ! I never would have believed that I could actually groove to a holiday cd,(BUT IT'S POSSIBLE) because Ms. Braxton's cd is more (love/passion/fun )with the holiday's in mind on this album. The vocals are superb on "Holiday Celebrate" where Toni coo's "Holiday Celebrate-with my babe",and "Snowflakes of Love" which sounds as if she is transported to the days of real jazz music, can be only described as "Breathtaking". This album will really have hits like "Christmas in Jamaica" - where Toni Braxton is magically transported to Jamaica to hook up with her man for the holidays. This album can truly be listened to through out the year and is really worth picking up.ALSO CHECK OUT- "Santa Please"- "Toni Braxton" asks "Santa Claus" to bring her man home in time for the holidays, which is so sweet, this album is really unique, it is the bomb ! I MUST GIVE A HATS OF TO TONI BRAXTON-LEWIS AND KERI LEWIS FOR A JOB WELL DONE !

5.0 out of 5 stars Toni shines with her snowflakes, October 23, 2001
This review is from: Snowflakes (Audio CD)
Toni's xmas album is one of the best albums in its type.Full of beautiful melodies transcending from classical songs like "have yourself a merry xmas" to the modern duet with shaggy "xmas in jamaica" we find a very mature voice,Toni definetely knows how to use her vocals perfectly as she brings the words to life as in the case of "snowflakes of love"."holiday celebrate" as well is a total work of art having her sister Tamar on the background vocals. So if you are looking to make your xmas a little more original please buy a copy of this album i swear it's worth the money!

4.0 out of 5 stars A VERY DIFFERENT BUT NICE CHRISTMAS ALBUM, December 20, 2004

I love this album. On most Christmas albums, artist tend to sing and remake the old classic Christmas songs but the majority of this album are songs recently written and produced my Keri Lewis who's Toni's husband and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. My favorite track is track 8 which is titled THIS TIME NEXT YEAR which is a love and Christmas song mixed into one. Overall, this is a good Christmas album and you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth, jazzy, groovy Christmas!, December 15, 2004

This review is from: Snowflakes (Audio CD)

This is a great CD. I don't know why I didn't get it any sooner. What attracted me to get this album is her rendition of "Christmas Time is Here" which I hear on the radio every so often. It's too bad the other songs on the CD don't get as much airtime.

I especially like the first track "Holiday-Celebrate"; it starts off so dramatic and powerful and really sets of the mood of the entire CD. I've always liked Toni Braxton's singing style - very expressive and sensual. Most all of her albums have "hit" songs, and this one won't disappoint.

True there are tried and tested Christmas classics, and there's no need to say which ones are better or worse. Everyone is free to celebrate the holidays in their own way and thus we should surround ourselves with elements that fill the senses and evoke those personal holiday memories.

So if you want to hear those childhood holiday tunes or the standard holiday classics, there are plenty of those and we welcome them year after year. But if you want to hear a smooth, groovy, jazzy music laced with a holiday theme, this is the one.

This is one of my favorite Christmas albums.I like it so much I even listen to it out of season.Yeah even after Christmas!

''Christmas in Jamaica''is the first song Ive ever heard that makes you think of mistletoe, unrapping gifts and running on the beach sipping as drink from a coconut at the same time.Another favorite is ''Christmas Time Is Here''which has had a sad feel to it and I think Toni gives it the emotion that it deserves.
Excellent Toni!

5.0 out of 5 stars UNDER THE GOLDEN SUN, COMES A DIVA!, November 3, 2001
This review is from: Snowflakes (Audio CD)
The album is great, It have new songs and tradition songs. Holiday Celebrate (features Tamar Braxton) is the theme of This Year's christmas!

Christmas In Jamaica (with Shaggy) is another unforgetable Christmas song. Toni takes us to a mood that touches our heart when she begges Santa to bring back her baby in "Santa Please". A great song called "This Time Next Year" remindes us of the old Toni in "Secrets". Along with an amazing track "Snowflakes of Love" which shows how Toni is grown with her voice.

GET THE ALBUM, IT IS WORTH THE MONEY and it is the best Xmas gift this year!
