This review is from: The Snowfly (Mysteries & Horror) (Hardcover)
This book may seem ordinary to non-flyfishermen, but if you fish, it is magical, and contains mulitple climaxes, seeming to end, then finally surprising the reader with a second unanticipated ending. Highly recommended!

The Snowfly was fantastic!,

What an incredible story. I could not put it down. There needs to be more books like this, intermingling flyfishing with life and such. The author showed great diversification with this story; murder, travel, sex, humor, death and of course.. discussing and defining that "troutbug" so many of us get. Thanks Mr. Heywood.

The Snowfly is the most brillant book i have ever read. There is never a dull moment, and i couldn't put the book down. The author combines suspense with intrigue. I never knew what was going to happen next.

The One That Got Away...,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Snowfly (Mysteries & Horror) (Hardcover)
First off, I profess my love for 2 of Heywood's previous novels, "The Berkut" and "The Domino Conspiracy" - they are fantastic thrillers that should be sought out by anyone who likes the genre. "The Snowfly" is a mild disappointment - the dialogue of some characters is unbelievably stilted and the plot is too convoluted - his other books were much tighter. The descriptions of fishing and the fisherman's mindset, however, are extremely well drawn out and there's enough globetrotting adventure to make this worthwhile. I hope that Heywood produces books more frequently in the future.

truelly hooked,

A really great adventure with well thought out characters and plenty of action. Lots of mystery that does't let you in on the whole picture until the very end. The thread of fly fishing which runs throughout the book is very well written. I looked for other books by the author just because I enjoyed this one so much, I hope to see more work by Mr. Heywood in the future. The idea of a giant mayfly that hatches only once a decade and lures out only the biggest of trout is a grand idea!

Heywood shows us what to expect in all of his future books, and does a masterful job at that. Excellent tale and the character's development shows what I already appreciated his skills. I had read all of his "Woods Cop" series and went back to check this out. Well worth the visit. Kudos to Mr. Heywood.

Incredible,

This review is from: The Snowfly: A Novel (Paperback)
I just returned from Pennsylvania, fishing during the fabled Eastern Green Drake hatch. That trip was all about the perfect conditions for catching the perfect fish. Do the perfect conditions exist? Perhaps. Green drakes hatching in the rain, unable to get off the water. I stood there with the wrong fly.
This book is about the pursuit of the "perfect condition" for a chosen hobby brought to the point of a mythical nirvana. This is where the weekend hacker able to attain 10 under par on a championship course, the jogger wins the Ironman, the bowler hits three straight 300's. We all take our chosen hobbies to fantasy level in the back of our minds. This is that fantasy level brought to the point of "yeah, that could happen." And you're caught. You find yourself following this detective story disguised as an outdoor sports novel, hoping that that the hero, Bowie Rhodes will find those perfect conditions, that golden moment, not knowing if its real or someone else's fantasy. Very good read.

I've read this twice now. Combines fly fishing, intrigue, sex, and a great plot. Characters are well developed and pretty unique. If you are familiar with the State of Michigan that's another bonus. What an imaginitive mind Mr. Heywood has. He also authors the Woodscop series, which are also quite good, but I'd like to see another very different one, like this is, from him soon
