4.0 out of 5 stars If you like great guitar - you'll love Snowy White
I first heard Snowy White's work on Peter Green's album "In The Skies" where Snowy played lead guitar on a song called "Slabo Day". That was such a wonderful performance that I bought this album hoping to hear more. Overall this is a really enjoyable CD to listen to. Snowy White is a diverse, masterful guitarist and certainally one of the best...

2.0 out of 5 stars What a dissapointment
I bought MELTING and fell in love with the SNOWY WHITE sound. Excellent songs that fit his somewhat sparse vocals, guitar playing that is destinctive and emotional like few others. 5 stars all the way. Had to get more SNOWY so I bought this one. None of the above applies to this dross. He still plays some very good guitar, but the songs are dreadfull and are one cliche...

I first heard Snowy White's work on Peter Green's album "In The Skies" where Snowy played lead guitar on a song called "Slabo Day". That was such a wonderful performance that I bought this album hoping to hear more. Overall this is a really enjoyable CD to listen to. Snowy White is a diverse, masterful guitarist and certainally one of the best around. I am amazed that he is almost an unknown in America. The songs are well written and in my opinion the vocals mesh well with the music. The first song "Land of Freedom" is a great song and I really enjoy the instrumentals on this one. Minus one star for two cuts that are just slightly less intriguing than the rest. I've bought two more Snowy White CD's since this one. This is one artist that I hope will be around for a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good offering, September 28, 2011

A more pop-oriented CD than his first LP, but great music nonetheless. Imagine a sort of 80s pop-jazz-blues combination, and you'll have a very sparse description of what can be found on this CD. I loved it from the first listen. The song Land of Freedom on this album is an excellent example of what great 80s pop rock should sound like... with great guitar throughout!!! Also the bonus tracks on the CD edition are both really great. If you're into Snowy White, don't hesitate... if you're unfamiliar then I suggest starting with Thin Lizzy Chinatown, on which he plays (note that this is nothing like Thin Lizzy) and then perhaps Keep Out-We Are Toxic, which is available from Amazon MP3, a more rock-oriented offering.

He still plays some very good guitar, but the songs are dreadfull and are one cliche after another. His vocals sound awefull and the material does nothing for his delivery. Lyrics are trite ( thats being kind ) and all the backing musos are stuck in the worst of the 70/80's. Slap bass that is supposed to invoke FUNK, electric piano that really gets on your nerves after a couple of doses and would not be remiss on a MERVE AND THE MAGIC TONES LOUNGE CD. All that was bad in the late 70's and early 80's in rock is destilled to a new low on this offering. Sorry to be so harsh as he has come a long way and on MELTING has found a style and direction that puts him at the top of the BLUES / ROCK guitarists tree. Buy MELTING and do yourself a favour and stay away from this earlier effort.
