A very "tight" CD, in other words its COOL!,
By Matthew Williams (Lamar,CO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Snuff the Punk (Audio CD)
This is currently the only other P.O.D. CD available now besides "Southtown", but it definitely shows this band has always been great, even from the beginning. I'm tempted to say its their best album, but its the cover art that's winning me over. No, this is definitely an equal to "Southtown." If you liked "Southtown". this is the next CD to buy; IT IS GREAT! Now I can't wait for "Brown" to be released in August!

p.o.ds first,

This is P.O.D.s first cd. After being a P.O.D. fan for a while, I realy wanted to try this album. I wasn't let down. Here is a song-by-song review.
Coming Back. This is a cool song with a cool begining. It talks about Jesus coming back. Let The Music Do The Talking. A standout track with great rapping and cool tornadoe sirens in the background. Draw The Line. The most popular song on the cd. Not my faverite, but it's still pretty good. Who's Right? Another good song. It talks about Jesus not favering any race of people. Get Strait. A fine track that talks about making Jesus Lord over you before he comes back. Run. Fast rapping and cool bass. It starts out depressing but it ends happy. Check it out. Snuff The Punk. P.O.D.S first recorded song and my faverite track on this cd. They tell us in this song to "snuff the punk". The punk is the Devil. Can You Feel It. Not the best but is still worth listening to. Three In The Power Of One. It talks about having the power to use Jesus' name to beat the Devil and his Demons. The hardest song on the cd. Every Knee. A fine song with a cool rap part in the middle of the song. It talks about how everone will see that Jesus is king. Abortion Is Murder. The begining isn'nt the real song. It realy begins a little after the begining. Just Listen to it and you'll see what I mean. The most Christian cd P.O.D. has released. Somebody said that they curse in thier songs. Well, I rap to these song almost every day and I've yet to hear them curse. That's not to say they don't curse when they're not on stage. But if they do, it's not the end of the world. Nobody is perfect. Including Cristians. If you like P.O.D., try this cd.

NOT A REVIEW, BUT A CORRECTION OF SOMEONE ELSE'S. . .,
By A Customer
This review is from: Snuff the Punk (Audio CD)
I have been reading the reviews on this cd, because I am very interested in buying it. When I came across this one review that was mostly just a review of P.O.D. itself. Thr reviewer claimed that they had good music, but also implied that they used swear words in their music. I am here to defend them on that point. So, all you christian readers, pleeeasse don't be scared away. Because they DO NOT use any foul words. Just keep reading. . . One point he made was that in the song 'What is Right', on the record 'Snuff the Punk', Sonny sings "Talking that (what?)". Know what the word was? TRASH. It wasn't anything dirty. It was TRASH. Trust me, I've listened very closely to the music clip. "ROCK THE PARTY" (off the hook) 'We came here to rock this jam - spread HIS love is the master plan. Let this light ignite like a spark - everybody in the party knows who we are. You gotta' get down, dance around, floss your style - P.O.D., guarantee, make it worth your while. Bad vibes, leave 'em at the door - soulcheck'n, housewreck'n, keep 'em begging for more. WE CAME TO ROCK THE PARTY ALL NIGHT LONG - SO PARTY PEOPLE WON'T YA' SING THAT SONG. WE CAME TO ROCK THE PARTY ALL NIGHT LONG - AND KEEP IT LIVE 'TILL THE BREAK OF DAWN. Hey dj won't ya' play that song - and we'll keep dancin' 'till the break of dawn. Keep it live like the way it should - ain't nobody gettin' crazy so you know it's all good. B-boys, fly-girls one time - friend of yours is a friend of mine. Don't bother stopping 'till this jam is through - if you been here before than you know how we do. (MAIN CHORUS)

P.O.D. is such a great band. I discovered them a few months ago and they are changing my life. I love this cd, as God is praised in almost every song. Great cd. Can't wait for re-release of "Brown" on July 4, 2000!

Debut album old school POD,
By arturo olivo (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Snuff The Punk (MP3 Download)
POD's first album Snuff The Punk really shows what the band sounded like when they first debuted in 1992 with their first album. The album is really raw and heavy and it shows that POD really loves Jesus and ain't to express in their lyrics and songs. Each song is just amazing and sure its a little rough to hear garage type recording from the band but you have to start somewhere. If you never picked up the bands first two albums Snuff The Punk and Brown then you need this two albums in your collection right now. You get a mix of rap, metal, funk all rolled into one package that may sound outdated but its the roots of where the band started before getting famous with their major label label on Atlantic records The Fundamental Elements of Southtown that was released in 1999. Its been 17 years since the release of Snuff of The Punk and its a testament of how a band like POD evolved over the years. My favorite tracks would be Draw The Line which is a cover song, Run, Snuff The Punk, Who's In This House which also contains a hidden track Murder. Straight up hard hitting POD that is sure to get anyone one who never gave the bands debut album a listen a shocking listen to what they missed.

One of P.O.D.'s best.,
This review is from: Snuff the Punk (Audio CD)
This cd is spectacular. I bought this album a few years ago, and I wasn't sold right away. After listening to the words, and powerful sound a few more times - I was sold. This is NOT Satellite by any means, but It's great to hear the beginning for P.O.D. and the mature sound they are today. This cd shows their Christian roots the most - and thats one aspect I love about it. It may not be the greatest album P.O.D. has put out - but it's certainly worth a listn.

P.O.D.: not as polished as now; still brought the goods,
By Sheila Doki (Sherman, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Snuff the Punk (Audio CD)
This album is amazing. I find myself listening to it more and more these days, actually. Clearly, although their songwriting skills weren't as polished and perfected as they are today, as with the quality of the songs, P.O.D. still delivered the real, raw sound that can still be found in their music today.Kicking off the album with "Coming Back" was great. One of my favorite songs on the album. Sonny repeatedly says, "He's coming back - he's coming back for me and you", then the track increases in tempo. Other highlights of the album are "Run" {"You're the one who rescued me /...next time I run, I'm running straight to you"} which is about seeing no light in your world then discovering and accepting Jesus Christ in your life and realizing that things aren't that bad after all; and of course the title track, "Snuff The Punk", is sheerly awesome. "Let The Music Do The Talking" lets the music simply do the talking, and it is also a powerful song. P.O.D. seemed to have been more religiously blatant in their songs, {"Christ is king"} than they are now. Their music today is still extremely positive, but some of the lyrics are more universal and can be applied to more situations {"Every day is a new day, I'm thankful for every breath I take"}. Do not hesitate to buy this album. You will find it very enlightening, captivating, and they're a multi-talented band with a lot going for them.

Young P.O.D.,

I have been a fan of P.O.D.'s since this album ORIGINALLY was released. I own all the albums they have released (originals and re-releases, like this one). This album was released on Rescue Records, the independent hardcore and hip-hop record company founded by Noah Bernardo Sr, the father of Noah Bernardo Jr., who is more commonly known as Wuv, the drummer of P.O.D.This re-release of Snuff The Punk sounds much better than the original release, thanks to being re-mixed. Other than the improvement of sound quality, what we have here is a hard-hitting, rap-metal indie debut from a young and immature local San Diego band. The lyrics are aggressively spiritual; the music is classic speed metal with a lot of funk saturated throughout (much like the sound of thrash-funk pioneers Infectious Grooves). And the vocals jump between speed-metal screaming and gangster rap hip-hop. If you are a "fan" of P.O.D., then this album is a good listen. Mostly to see where they came from and how they evolved into their current, amazing sound. If you are not a "fan" of P.O.D., but rather are just a fan of the P.O.D. songs that are currently played on the radio and MTV, you may not care for this album. Snuff the Punk is best admired as a P.O.D. history lesson. Of course, if you want to focus on the spiritual aspect of P.O.D., this album contains the boldest and most direct declarations of P.O.D.'s Christian faith than of any of their albums. If you want to focus on the beauty of P.O.D.'s artistic musical abilities and imagination, this album does not match up whatsoever to the extensive artistic sound we hear on The Fundamental Elements of Southtown and Satellite. As for me, I am a long time P.O.D. fan and have this album in both its original release and this re-release. I would not consider myself a P.O.D. fan without this album in my collection. But the bottom line is that this is just a basic, simple, average debut album by the band who would later grow up to be one of the most talented hard-music bands in America (and maybe the rest of the world once Satellite is released overseas).

If you ever get a hold of this CD you'll enjoy it forever. I've found that the whole album Rocks minus 1 or 2 songs. I first heard the CD on the way to the beach riding in my friends Honda Del Sol where we just cruised and listened to the CD. This CD is so great for that. If you want any of the POD CDs get this one ASAP.
