Before San Diego-bred P.O.D. (Payable on Death) landed on a major label in 1998, they were successful indie recording artists. In fact, their Atlantic debut, 1999's Fundamental Elements of Southtown is actually the lineup's fifth album since forming in 1992. And Snuff the Punk was their debut, a heretofore out of print effort now rereleased, remastered and remixed, with new graphics as well. P.O.D. had a strong following in Christian music circles before crossing over with Southtown, and Snuff the Punk shows why. Vaguely progressive thrashy metal with lots of funky rhythms and major hardcore rap influences, the time changes and aggressive musicality of this raw CD, originally released in 1993, is timely in 2000 and beyond. And despite the many religious references, open-minded secular music fans should be able to listen and groove to the positive, heavy tunes that populate Snuff the Punk (the punk being the devil) without feeling preached to. Still, with blatant lyrics such as "abortion is murder," on the "hidden" final track, "Murder," it's very clear where the band is coming from. Snuff the Punk is a winner for Christian heavy music fans. But if you're not a religious type but can mosh to the speedy punk vibe of "Can You Feel It?" and embrace singer Sonny praising God in "Run" ("you're the one who rescued me"), then this debut is a secular success as well. --Katherine Turman --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This is currently the only other P.O.D. CD available now besides "Southtown", but it definitely shows this band has always been great, even from the beginning. I'm tempted to say its their best album, but its the cover art that's winning me over. No, this is definitely an equal to "Southtown." If you liked "Southtown". this is the next CD to buy; IT IS GREAT! Now I can't wait for "Brown" to be released in August!

This is P.O.D.s first cd. After being a P.O.D. fan for a while, I realy wanted to try this album. I wasn't let down. Here is a song-by-song review.

Coming Back. This is a cool song with a cool begining. It talks about Jesus coming back.

Let The Music Do The Talking. A standout track with great rapping and cool tornadoe sirens in the background.

Draw The Line. The most popular song on the cd. Not my faverite, but it's still pretty good.

Who's Right? Another good song. It talks about Jesus not favering any race of people.

Get Strait. A fine track that talks about making Jesus Lord over you before he comes back.

Run. Fast rapping and cool bass. It starts out depressing but it ends happy. Check it out.

Snuff The Punk. P.O.D.S first recorded song and my faverite track on this cd. They tell us in this song to "snuff the punk". The punk is the Devil.

Can You Feel It. Not the best but is still worth listening to.

Three In The Power Of One. It talks about having the power to use Jesus' name to beat the Devil and his Demons. The hardest song on the cd.

Every Knee. A fine song with a cool rap part in the middle of the song. It talks about how everone will see that Jesus is king.

Abortion Is Murder. The begining isn'nt the real song. It realy begins a little after the begining. Just Listen to it and you'll see what I mean.

The most Christian cd P.O.D. has released. Somebody said that they curse in thier songs. Well, I rap to these song almost every day and I've yet to hear them curse. That's not to say they don't curse when they're not on stage. But if they do, it's not the end of the world. Nobody is perfect. Including Cristians. If you like P.O.D., try this cd.

I have been reading the reviews on this cd, because I am very interested in buying it. When I came across this one review that was mostly just a review of P.O.D. itself. Thr reviewer claimed that they had good music, but also implied that they used swear words in their music. I am here to defend them on that point. So, all you christian readers, pleeeasse don't be scared away. Because they DO NOT use any foul words. Just keep reading. . .

One point he made was that in the song 'What is Right', on the record 'Snuff the Punk', Sonny sings "Talking that (what?)". Know what the word was? TRASH. It wasn't anything dirty. It was TRASH. Trust me, I've listened very closely to the music clip.
And the reviewer also said that in 'Rock the Party' of 'The Fundamental Elements of Southtown', Sonny sings ". . .punk - (what?). . ." I own that album, and I've listened to that song many, many times. I've also read the lyrics inside the album pamphlet. They never even say the word 'punk'. To read the whole song, copied word for word from the pamphlet, go to the end of my 'review'.
Another questionable one that I've heard of was in the song 'Boom', on the album 'Satellite'. I own that cd, too. The verse supposedly goes, "I never knew that a kid like me could take his mic around the world and flash his big (a-word)."
Nope. It in fact goes "I never knew that a kid like me could take his mic around the world and flash the big S.D." I actually don't know what S.D. stands for (san diego, maybe, where they came from?).
P.O.D. has never once said a foul word in any of their songs. In fact, just the opposite. They always sing about chritian morals and themes, and even make many referances to 'Jah' and 'Father'. So please, don't let one confused reviewer scare you off from possibly some of the best music you will ever hear (with CLEAN lyrics).

We gotz to say what we feel - then i can say came real. Don't wanna be caught messin' around - cuz a party ain't a party when it gets shut down (repeat: shut down, shut down).
