This review is from: SnugFleece Deluxe Wool Mattress Pad - Twin
One of the reasons we bought this wool mattress pad is that my wife co-sleeps with the baby in her bed [safely]. By dint of the fact that the baby sleeps there throughout the night, there was always the inevitable spit-up or leaky diaper that occurred. Which entailed stripping the bed in the middle of the night, dabbing at the spots while trying to make sure the mattress didn't absorb the liquid, then replacing with a clean sheet. Not fun at 4am. Again. So we decided to get a waterproof mattress pad. But 99.9% of the waterproof ones are laminated with vinyl..which is a bad chemical for kids (or anyone) to be around, especially if you're a baby and you sleep right on it! We were at our wits' end because we didn't want any liquid being absorbed into the mattress and causing bacteria to grow, yet also did not want the baby to inhale chemicals as he slept. Thankfully, we happened upon this Snugfleece wool pad! It's naturally waterproof and helps wick moisture away; which was great being that young kids/babies sweat a LOT through their heads while they sleep. I can venture so far as to say that the pool of sweat my kid used to wake up in and spread on the sheet are less than half of what they used to be, maybe even 3/4. I'm serious. My wife really couldn't believe it!
Another great thing about this pad is that even though it didn't seem so thick when we first took it out of the package (which by the way *is* clear vinyl-- 1) it doesn't let the wool breathe 2) is a no-no because of the chemicals it releases..y'know that smell when you open something in a vinyl package? That's the offgassing of the chemicals), once its on the bed it is cushy enough to notice a difference, yet not too cushy that it's a danger for a baby sleeping there who needs a firmer surface. It also keeps the baby ever-so-slightly warmer without us having to dress him in as many layers. My wife does not use a heavy blanket (or even a medium weight one) in order to keep the bed safe and the baby from getting tangled/stuck under it, so this is great that it helps regulate the temperature! Just to be aware, the backing isn't natural sheepskin; the wool is somehow embedded into a synthetic, slightly-plasticy-feeling cloth. Disappointing on that count, but still happy with the product. Overall, we are extremely happy we made this purchase as it has definitely made our lives easier knowing that the baby sleeps better and in turn, *we* sleep better. Would probably purchase again.

Found it for much less on Dreamsoftbedware.com,
By Natural Mama (Spring Hill, TN) - See all my reviews I am really happy with this wool mattress pad, and this is just the 1" version. They also make a 1 1/4" and a 1 1/2" pile version, and they all carry a manufacturer's 1 year warranty. Shop around to make sure you get the best price on this great product.

Can't believe it -- really regulates temperature!,
By I would guess that if it ever got cold here the insulating features of wool would come into play too. Also, the fact that memory foam comes with a warning that it is HIGHLY FLAMMABLE always freaked me out...the wool has natural flame resistance. I am buying two more pads for each of the twin beds so that I won't worry so much about the kids, either. Love this product!!!! 2115|R28PSNF6A5DMC4;2115|R35OC2C7RREOHB;2115|RJ4JRL2Q0IZ42;
