4.0 out of 5 stars "Best Present" my 13-year-old niece received
My niece was positively frantic to have the Snuggie in Zebra print after having shared one with a friend at summer camp. Apparently, my purchasing of the Snuggie has made me into the "best aunt ever".

I did open up the box to try to find out what all the hubub is about. I, personally, don't see anything amazing about the Snuggie. But even I, a jaded,...

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheap Quality Fleece! Do Not Buy!!
I was given 2 Snuggies as gifts and they are very warm and comfortable however after just 2 washes the fleece started pilling. For those out there that are unschooled in the differences in fleece, pretty much every fleece in the world is soft and warm to begin with. One of the biggest differences between high quality and low quality fleece lies in the "pilling effect"...

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheap Quality Fleece! Do Not Buy!!, December 1, 2009
This review is from: Snuggie Wild Side
I was given 2 Snuggies as gifts and they are very warm and comfortable however after just 2 washes the fleece started pilling. For those out there that are unschooled in the differences in fleece, pretty much every fleece in the world is soft and warm to begin with. One of the biggest differences between high quality and low quality fleece lies in the "pilling effect". Pilling occurs when the garment's fibers roll up, often after being washed, and lie on the surface like tiny round pills. This pilling seriously effects almost every aspect of the fleece including how it feels and its ability to keep heat in. All fleece pills eventually. You can tell how old a Patagonia Synchilla jacket is based off of how much pilling has taken place. High quality fleece doesn't pill for quite some time and cheap fleece starts to pill almost immediately. I had serious pilling after only 2 washes with the Snuggies and I am over 20 washes with my Slankets and they still haven't shown any sign of pilling yet.

The bottom line - Snuggies are cheaper but you get what you pay for. A Slanket costs more but its going to last you a considerably longer amount of time than the Snuggie and it will keep its softness and its ability to keep in warmth much longer than the Snuggie. I gave my Snuggies to the Salvation army and purchased 4 Slankets. My advice is to stay as far away from the Snuggie as possible. Spend a little more and get something that is actually much higher in quality. If however you care more about saving money than actually buying something of quality then maybe the Snuggie is for you after all.

I did open up the box to try to find out what all the hubub is about. I, personally, don't see anything amazing about the Snuggie. But even I, a jaded, deal-hunting kind of girl, can appreciate the extraordinary level of excitement shown by my emo-style 13-year old niece when she received it.

If it can do that to a girl who spends 99.9% of her waking hours pouting - it's a win in my book.

1.0 out of 5 stars spend $5 more for the SOFT one!, November 7, 2009
This review is from: Snuggie Wild Side
i felt the fabric of this at a local store and it was THIN and awful. about a week ago, i saw the Snuggie made out of deluxe, soft fabric at a Costco[just got them in] and the fabric was dreamy and soft. i laughed at myself with a Snuggie in my cart as i went to checkout (why? we've joked them on TV for months!!). Anyway, it's now the most fought over item in the house adn i need to get more!

warning--when i pulled the Snuggie out of the packaging my first thoughts were: "THIS is stupid. It's going back. It's swallowing me an looks like an XL cut-in-half robe." Then, i put it on properly, got in TV watching position on the couch, and grinned for an hour! it's sooo comfy and warm because it stays up around your neck and chest to keep you cozy.

so, overall...the once-laughed at Snuggie (or "the SACK" if your kids watch iCarly and saw their version...) is a must-have at our house. Spend the extra $5 and get the soft, thick one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep warm while keeping arms and hands free., January 22, 2012
This review is from: Snuggie Wild Side
This was a gift from my cousin this year. Several people have said to me that it's a wonder I didn't already have one! I LOVE blankets, and having one with sleeves it awesome!

PROS:
- Super soft, on both sides.
- Light-weight so it doesn't weigh down on your shoulders or anything.
- Warm (again, without being heavy)
- The sleeves are great for keeping warm yet having use of your arms/hands, very long so you can comfortable keep your hands warm.
- Nice and long, so it covers even when stretched lying down (I'm 5'7").
- Wide enough to more than cover all over in nearly any position.
- Covers up to the neck and around the back of the shoulders, and stays in place pretty well, even when you re-position yourself.

CONS:
- The huge sleeves can get in the way sometimes, especially when eating. Cannot roll them or pull them up and have them stay.
- Can't really walk around with it on, as you'll step on it.
- Two large pockets are down way too far to be of any real use. Also, they're poorly sewn on, one is already coming apart (noticed after washing prior to use)
- It's a one-person blanket. No real way to snuggle with someone while keeping both under the blanket.
- Not too sure how durable it'll be after washing several times. Hoping to not spill anything on it!
- It's not super plush, so if that's the kind you want, it's not this one.

I have this zebra print, which really stands out in my living room. Not a bad print, really.

3.0 out of 5 stars $50 ? Really?, November 4, 2011
This review is from: Snuggie Wild Side
Kids love these, and they make good Christmas presents, although I agree with the reviewers who've pointed out that the Slankets are much higher quality fleece for $5-$10 more in price.

But really, solid color Snuggies, and prints like leopard and camo are selling for $14-$20 each, and the only zebra-print Sunggies start at $49.99?! What gives?

This would have gotten another star or two, if the price was in the same range as the other colors/prints.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift idea, January 3, 2011

I purchased the Snuggie for my wife as a sort of "ha ha" gimmicky gift for Christmas. Then guess what--she loved it! She has used it almost every night to sit and read books or curl up, get nice and "snuggly", and watch TV. Obviously it's a seasonal item, but well worth the money in my opinion.
Also, the book light that comes with it is very nice. Light yet sturdy and quite bright.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very cheap quality!, November 26, 2010
By
This review is from: Snuggie Wild Side
I purchased this at my local linen store because it's all the rave; however, I am very disappointed in it. The fabric is very thin and cheap, does not keep me warm at all and I didn't realize that there is an opening with no closure, such as a zipper. I thought this was a pull over your head fleece; however it is not. It's just like a hospital gown, but with zebra stripes.

5.0 out of 5 stars What's black and white and snuggly all over?!, November 18, 2010
This review is from: Snuggie Wild Side
After seeing the Snuggie on a television infomercial, I ridiculed it endlessly as a stupid product and a complete waste of money. I thought: really, if people wanted blankets that didn't fall off while they read a book or ate snacks and watched tv, couldn't they just wear a bathrobe backwards? Well sure, they could, but it would be nowhere near as comfortable as an actual Snuggie. After receiving one of these crazy blankets as a birthday gift, I have been converted. The Snuggie is soft and plushy and it keeps you extremely warm; it is like being wrapped in a fuzzy cocoon. One of the best parts is that the material does not pill, which means that it does not form those small annoying balls of fluffy fibres on the fabric's surface that ruin the soft even texture of the material. And, for added convenience, it is machine washable. There are also two pockets, which are great for keeping track of the remote control or any other small objects that you may carry around. Although the zebra print is optional, it definitely adds style points and sass so that you can lounge both comfortably and fashionably. The Snuggie embodies the perfect combination of form and function, and for fifteen dollars, it's a really great buy.
