Editorial Reviews

From the Artist

So many of our brothers and sisters go without daily nourishment. The goal of the parish one Lenten season was to make "hunger" our underlying focus. It would have been easy to surrender to the metaphorical notion that "everyone is hungry for something." Rather than talk about and pray for the relief of intellectual or spiritual hunger, our challenge was to address the real physical hunger of those around us. Homilies that talked about starvation, invitations to serve in the local feeding centers, shopping carts of the homeless in the worship space and challenges to seek justice in the distribution of food resources filled our parish for the whole lenten season.

"So My Brothers and Sisters Can Eat" was written and prayerfully performed for the youth-led Stations of the Cross. Inspired by life stories I have seen and heard in ministry over the last two decades, these reflections were given life by a talented group of teens and adults. Using their gifts in Reader’s Theater, new breath and challenge was brought to the Passion of Jesus.

Product Description

Vividly told with Reader’s Theater, this presentation expertly weaves the traditional telling of the last hours of Jesus (the "Stations of the Cross") with contemporary stories of real hunger and powerlessness, chant, and stories of sacred imagination. Performed before a live congregation by the teens and adults of our local parish in Arizona. Challenging your group with social justice themes, this performance is appropriate for adults and teens.
