Ye Olde English Acoustic Guitar Heaven!,

This review is from: So Early in the Spring (Audio CD)
I'm amazed that I am the first person to review this recorded gem! John Renbourne, and his musical soulmate, Bert Jansch, are both truly masters of acoustic folk guitar. It would be difficult to find finer proponents of this style of guitar picking. Unfortunately, this album (recorded in Japan in 1979) has "fallen through the cracks". It is a transition from his earlier, medieval/renaissance, Pentangle offerings to his more recent contemporary folk and blues acoustic styles. Mind you there is still a healthy sampling of songs that would not be out of place on any of his more traditional recordings. "So Early in the Spring", "Peacock Rag", and Dylan's "Buckets of Rain" are standout songs that bookend a great listen!
