Susan Egan is a remarkable Broadway talent who gets not NEARLY enough press. The tracks on "So Far..." show her range as a singer and entices the listener with a small taste what her stage performances are like ("Nothing" from A Chorus Line). Having discovered this marvelous performer via my nephew's continuous onslaught of Disney videos (She does the voice of Megera "Meg to my friends if I had any" in Disney's Hercules), I'm extremely pleased with this CD. I know it has a tune from "Bye Bye Birdie" but it WORKS (I just have a problem with that show...forgive me Susan!). The tracks from Cabaret ("Maybe This Time" and the title track) along with "I know Him So Well" from Chess (With Lisa Richard...another great singer) are extremely powerful. So if you like old-fashioned down to earth talent and show tunes, pick this baby up. Oh...and catch one of her live gigs...You won't regret it.

I met Susan Egan in 1990, when I was fortunate enough to be cast in the teen chorus at the Muny in St. Louis. It was Bye Bye Birdie, with Tommy Tune and Ann Reinking, and acted as a preview before it went on national tour (sadly, without me and the other teen chorus members!). I was blown away then by her talent, and was very excited to see that she'd released a CD. I like the fact that she's singing songs from musicals she's been in. So Far... has a good variety of newer material and classic Broadway fare.

I had the very good fortune to accidentally surf into Susan Egan's website (www.susanegan.net) several years ago and was so impressed with the site I sent her an email. Shortly there after I received a reply from Susan and was flabergasted. Since that day I have become a HUGE FAN and was lucky to see her perform live at the Orange County Performing Arts Center and the Laguna Playhouse, both in Orange County, California. I adore the songs she chose for this CD, perhaps because many of them are from my all time favorite Broadway shows, like THE FANTASTICKS, BYE BYE BIRDIE, HAIR and THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG!
Susan and her friend Lisa Richard, who performs with Susan on I KNOW HIM SO WELL from CHESS, have both been blessed with beautiful voices and comedic flair that will have you smiling from ear to ear!
