Are you a TOP fan like me? This is only their second live album in the 40+ years the band has been together and it's a serious barn burner. TOP still tour over 100 dates per year, usually with War and/or Average White Band, two other funk n' soul bands who also hit their peak around the 70s era. If you haven't had a chance to see them live, check out this album and hear what you're missing. Only the funkiest and tightest horn and rhythm section in the world. Recorded live in Stocton, CA in the late 90s, here they do many of their best songs from "Soul Vaccination" and "So I've Got To Groove" to the slow nostalgic r&b croon songs like "Willing to Learn" and "You're Still A Young Man" and their signature song, the funky "What is Hip?" The recording is hot. The performance and musicianship are flawless. Several of the original members are still part of this 10-pc. band, especially the amazing rhythm section of bassist Rocco Prestia and drummer David Garibaldi. And if you see an ad for them coming to a town near you, grab a pair of tickets and go see what a real talented, road-seasoned band of veteran musicians sounds like.
