Expensive and short yet his best material to date.,

This review is from: So Impossible (Audio CD)
While his two previous releases, Swiss Army Romance and The Places You Have Come to Feel The Most, have been staples of emotional acoustic rock, Chris Carrabba's (Dashboard Confessional) new EP is the apex of his career so far. Unfortunately a short collection of songs, these four tracks were recorded before his current headlining tour with his new back up band (members of Seville and indie rock legend Dan Hoerner of Sunny Day Real Estate). In a personal preference, this CD shows Carrabba's depth and growth as a songwriter and lyricist. In his previous releases, he stuck with 2 main guitar tunings (Db sus2 and standard) and sung in a loud, declarative fashion. His lyrics, though descriptive and personal, never really deviated emotionally. On the new EP he has managed to expand his musical and lyrical depths. Songs such as "For You to Notice" and "Hands Down" demonstrate his new-found penchant for description and song writing skills. The addition of Dan Hoerner to the band has made a dramatic difference: Dan's presence allowed more depth in the music and a second guitar, bringing in a second melody line throughout most of the songs. In short, it's my favorite Dashboard Confessional release to date. For the casual listener it's extremely catchy and easily his most accessible music to date, along with his best. Most fans should be satisfied with it and the new listeners will find this his most enjoyable piece of music to date. In short, pick this up.

love story gone emo,

A great 4 song love story... Seeing someone and wanting to get to know them, The anticipation of asking someone out and the excitement of getting to know someone. It captures the way you feel and worry about what to wear on the first date, and then the way it all comes into one perfect play. Just perfect.
I love the older stuff, it's the best because it's more of a time when their music could be played more how they wanted. ANd now that they've become more popular, their music sounds canned (a mark, a mission, a brand, a scar). If you like the older stuff like Swiss army romance, you'll love these acoustic songs.

this is by far the most amazing thing i have ever heard. i barely know how to say it. it's the first cd that ever made me cry. despite only being 15 minutes long, it's well worth it. remember to breath is such a beautiful song. each song perfectly captures the emotion of the four basic stages of starting a relationship:1-you want them, they don't know you exist 2-they ask you out, you wanna know more about them 3-being overly nervious, first date jitters type thing 4-having the perfect date wheather you're a long time fan or new to dc, this is a must have!
