5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent live album
This 3-CD set offers a very good overview of Neal's solo work, as well as a few songs from his days with Transatlantic and Spock's Beard. Disc 2 features a couple of nice medlies, one for the "Question Mark" album and the other for "Testimony." Each medly is approx. 30 minutes long, and does a nice job of hitting the highlights from those albums.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too Much Lifeline, unfortunately
I am a big Neal Morse fan. But Lifeline was not in the same group as the others. That said, this live CD was from the Lifeline tour. The Lifeline songs are better live, however - more bouncy and lively.
The band is amazing. But, to nitpick, the guitar player is not as good as the guitar player on the Sola Scriptura DVD.

Overall, the mix is fantastic, and each instrument is clear and easy to distinguish. The band is tight and extremely talented. I'm particularly impressed with the drummer's ability to pull off "Author of Confusion." Speaking of "Author of Confusion," Neal & Co. do a nice little segue into "I'm the Guy" (from "Snow"). I also liked the background vocals, and the semi-duet with Jessica on "At the End of the Day." There's a nice moment during "We All Need Some Light" when the audience sings along.

The songs from "Lifeline" actually sound better live. There's an extra level of energy that I personally thought was missing from the studio album.

If you're a fan of Morse, this is a great addition to your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Music, Decent Price, December 9, 2009

This review is from: So Many Roads (Audio CD)
Though fans of Neal Morse may balk at buying yet another live Morse CD, there are many good reasons to buy So Many Roads. First of all, this set spans Morse's career from his days with Spock's Beard to present, including some music from his side project Transatlantic. Secondly, the chit-chat is negligible. You get more than three hours worth of great music. Also enticing is the chance to hear Morse with a newish group of excellent Dutch musicians. Finally, there is the matter of the price which is so reasonable you can't go wrong.

So Many Roads has no audible flaws. Those songs selected for inclusion here are well chosen AND the set has a fluidity that makes the listener forget that what he/she is listening to was recorded at a variety of venues. I won't go so far as to say So Many Roads is essential Morse, but I will say that it is an album that should delight his many fans.

The CDs come packaged in a tri-fold digipak with no extras, a fact which likely accounts for the low price. If you like what Morse has done over the years, then you should enjoy this. Get it while it is still inexpensive.

This is an excellent 3 CD exposure for anyone who want to experience the amazing range of Neal Morse's many talents over the years, he is an amazing musician, composer and performer. I highly recommend it even though he may offend some with his christian message. Put you sensibilities aside and listen to the music. Well worth it.

The CD I ordered came in just a few days after purchase! Also, I love the funny smiley face printed on the packaging and stickered on the CD itself. Fun, personal and great quality or item and shipping time. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Highlights are Question Mark Medley and Stranger, and Help Me, in my opinion. But I always like the first two anyway.

At home I pop the Sola Scriptura or Testimony DVD's in the laptop while I work/surf. In the car this gets the rotation.

It's all good in the end.
