3.0 out of 5 stars Good but could be better
My girlfriend gave me this album for Christmas. I am a huge Salvador fan. There have been times where she's even been jealous, lol. For the record, the "'Heaven' scandle" is anything but. Salvador gives proper credit to Los Lonely Boys, and I'm sure LLB are very greatful that their song is getting played on Christian radio. It's a good song, and I'm a fan of both...

5.0 out of 5 stars :: ~Naturally Uplifting ~ ::, August 30, 2005
This review is from: So Natural (Audio CD)
Before I start the review, I would first like to just clear one thing up. Los Lonely boys ::ASKED:: Salvador to redo "Heaven". Back to the review. I really enjoy this CD it has so much to offer. So Natural is different from any of the other albums Salvador has made in the past. Nic Gonzales (Lead vocals/Producer)has written and arranged all of the songs on the album with help from Chris Belvins (Piano/Producer) and Chris Rodriguez. One thing I love about So Natural is, it was recorded with all live instruments. The songs on this album are really not the funky, ::dance-till-you-drop:: kind of songs, like the former "Breathing Life" from "Into Motion" or "Ain't It good" from the self titled "Salvador". So natural is a new sound to Salvador. Its a mature and heartfelt album. The songs are uplifting to the soul. The Lyrics have hope in each word. For example the song "This is my life" goes to say ::Take my world of simple, misconceptions, nothing here will ever truly satisfy my soul. where brokenness is traded for redemption,it's your hands, that never let me go, this is all i have, but its all i ever need::

The lyrics from the songs on this album are so powerful. They really touch your heart. So many of the songs are really easy to relate to. I love each song on here. I also enjoy La Palabra, I love the idea that Salvador never leaves their Latin roots.

So Natural opens with "Can You Feel" (The supernatural)This song is pretty much about opening your heart to the Lord, and letting his awesome power fill your heart. This song, like many others, is uplifting and the lyrics are powerful."You Are There" This song is about God being all around you at every moment of the day. I love this song because it is about strong faith. "This Is My Life" This song in possibly one of the most heartfelt songs on the album. It was a special song Nic had written, that really had related to him and his life at that time. "Heaven" A great song orginally by the Los Lonely Boys. "It Comes Back To You" This song relates to just about everyone once in their life. It has to do with everyday struggles, and about what you do in life will eventually come back around. "Cover Me" The first real upbeat song on the album. It has a rock feel to it and has to do with God always being there and taking care of you. " For More Than Ourselfs" Another song with a rock, upbeat feel. The song tells of being on this earth for more then just ourselves, but for a higher purpose. "Fabricated" One of my favorite songs, I love everything about this song. It's just unexplainable. Pick up the Cd and you will know what I mean! "Let It Be Said" This song I can relate to on so many levels. The whole song is about just letting the world go on and say what they want to say about me, Because of my faith but it won't stop me from believing.Let it be said is another one of my favorites. "Glimpse Of His Heart" This song tells about God's love and how he shows us how much he really cares. "So Natural" Upbeat, Sunny-day type of feel. I love this song and the lyrics it just helps you start the day off with a good feeling. and "La Palabra" I think it's a really pretty song although I don't speak Spanish so I can't really say much about it. Im sure anyone who does speak Spanish will enjoy it though. Well That is it for the review, I hope you consider buying So Natural it really is a great album I think should be in anyone's collection. Take care everyone, and God bless.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but could be better, January 14, 2005
This review is from: So Natural (Audio CD)
My girlfriend gave me this album for Christmas. I am a huge Salvador fan. There have been times where she's even been jealous, lol. For the record, the "'Heaven' scandle" is anything but. Salvador gives proper credit to Los Lonely Boys, and I'm sure LLB are very greatful that their song is getting played on Christian radio. It's a good song, and I'm a fan of both versions. I had hoped there would be more of a horn presence on this album. That's one of the things that first attracted me to Salvador was their blasting, bombastic horns on their first album. I also like that rough, acustic feel that they had on the first album. I know they've improved musically since then, and they've grown. I'm not trying to downplay their funk and say they should stick to Latin stuff. I do think, though, that the funk is great but it needs more Latin in it. I wish they would go more the accustic route instead of doing "cool" studio polishing to the music. They're an awesome live band, and an awesome jam band. You felt that with the first album and with their live album and DVD. They've also lost a couple of members that I'd wish they could get back, but I won't name names on that one. Overall, it's a good album. I like "Can You Feel" and "Cover Me" among others. Nic's good at writing catchy stuff that could be great praise and worship music in churches and youth services all over. All in all, I think they should combine the best of their first album and IntoMotion. The inclusion of the live "La Palabra" was good. Let's hope that they put more horns in their next effort.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Christian Rock, January 28, 2006

In the search for some quality Christian modern music, I came across Salvador when I heard their cover of "Heaven." These guys are fantastic! I thought I'd never find a band that was able to combine Christian themes with great, original music, but I finally found one. This is one of my favorite CD's in the past year. Not only do they have awesome musical chops, they also express their spirituality without sounding preachy -- their beliefs are very genuine and heartfelt. I love the Latin-tinged flavor of the songs. In short, if you're searching for good Christian music that rocks, you have found your salvation in Salvador.

5.0 out of 5 stars One amazing album, November 4, 2005
This review is from: So Natural (Audio CD)
Before I bought this CD, I was already in love with their rendition of "Heaven;" in fact I thought it better than the original Los Lonely Boys version, as did my wife.

Having heard good things about the cd and my music library being in need of some more high quality Christian music, I plunked down the cash for "So Natural," boy was I ever in for a treat. What I got was pure musical and lyrical bliss from beginning to end, not one song dissapointed. Although my musical tastes lean towards progressive rock and metal, I loved this cd from beginning to end and found the lyrics to be solid praise to our most holy God. I'd recommend this cd to just about anyone, Christian or not (maybe the non-Christians could get the message)

From the very first song, this album keeps you on your feet! Salvador's "So Natural" was the perfect addition to my collection. The songs were fun and funky, all while praising God. This head-bobbing, toe-tapping cd won't disappoint!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE VERY BEST of Salvador, May 12, 2007

Salvador is a band that has this unique latin rock style, but sang in english. For me, this is their MASTERPIECE. Every single song has something good to give, from the very first beginning, till the last second of the last song, letters and music. I'm so glad I got this CD, I listened to it basically every day! I've read that many nonchristian people also like Salvador, so that means that this guys made an excellent job with this album without a doubt.

I highly recommend this album to anyone who thinks Salvador isn't that good. That just means that you've never heard their best stuff, which is in this cd.

EXCELLENT product.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my Favorite Albums EVER!, March 15, 2007
This review is from: So Natural (Audio CD)
This album is incredible, both music and lyrics. There is something for everyones mucical taste, from hard rock to soft ballad to traditional salsa, the band draws from various styles and yet does them in a way that appeals to anyone who loves music. And the lyrics......well, I haven't been so emotionally moved while listening to 'This is My Life' ever. I listen to alot of music, from Sting, Steely Dan, Green Day, Dave Mathews, Miles Davis...., and this is one of my favorite albums ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this music!, August 11, 2006
This review is from: So Natural (Audio CD)
I heard Heaven on the radio and ran to my Christian music store to get it. Fortunately they didn't have this one. I bought the one they had (Into Motion) without hearing any songs and loved it. Finally found this one at the Unity Festival in Muskegon where Salvador played live tonight. I'm going to buy all their music and hope they come back to Unity again. (This was their second or third appearance.)

Even if you're not a Christian music fan I think you will like Salvador's So Natural if you like Santana or Gloria Estefan.

Great CD. I keep playing 'Heaven' over and over. I just discovered this song when I went to the WORD site recently. I took a chance on this CD because I liked 'Heaven'. To me it sounds a bit like Huey Lewis and the News. Great beat. Right now I'm listening to the rest of the album. I'm liking what I hear. Give it a listen and decide for yourself.
