About the Artist

Kirk McLeod founded the band Seven Nations over ten years ago. While Seven Nations' popularity has continued to rise and has enjoyed a high profile, few knew that McLeod had such a depth of range and skill that can truly be appreciated on this recording. McLeod has written some magical tunes and they are perfectly showcased here.

Product Description

A spellbinding mix of instrumental and vocal stylings from singer/songwriter Kirk McLeod. The same Kirk McLeod who has led the internationally acclaimed Seven Nations for nearly ten years. The instruments on this recording are only a piano and Kirk's voice. So natural and pure, anything more would be overkill. This is a beautiful work of art just waiting to be treasured.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Perfect, October 4, 2003
By A Customer
So Piano is quite simply a perfect album (if you have good taste). Retaining the quaint sound of folklore without needing the fiddle or bagpipes, So Piano is relaxing, nostalgic, full of pathos, and most importantly, beautiful. If youre a fan of Seven Nations, then youll be happy to know that seven 7N songs are on the album (including one of my favourites, Twelve), beautifully redone, and the six new songs on the album again display the genius in Kirks songwriting. His piano playing, while not groundbreaking, is nonetheless exquisite, and his voice is, as always, uniquely bittersweet and gorgeous. Definite recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolutely brilliant album, September 3, 2003
By A Customer
As the title of this review suggests I think this is a great album. The piano and vocals are incredible and the strength and beauty of Kirk McLeod's songs shine through. If you are a Seven Nations fan I would recommend you purchase this album immediately. It does feature songs that are on previous albums, such as "Twelve", "King of Oblivion" and "Very Nice", but with just the piano accompanying the vocals the songs take a new turn. There are also a couple new songs that I have never heard as well as songs just featuring the piano. Overall a great album, and, if you are buying this album having never heard of Seven Nations, I would recommend that you check out their albums, especially if you like celtic rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kirk Goes Solo!, September 1, 2003
By Laura Campbell (Statesboro, GA United States) - See all my reviews
Through the years, Kirk McLeod, singer/songwriter/guitarist for the band Seven Nations, has occasionally delighted his fans by sitting down at the piano. "So Piano" fulfils the dream of an all piano/all Kirk album. Selections include some old songs of his and some new, with one cover, "Boys Don't Cry." Some are instrumental; some include vocals. But it's all Kirk and only Kirk! It's lush and wonderfully romantic. And it includes my personal favorite, "The Selling of Waternish," a truly evocative melody.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's Missing 6 of the 7 Nations
I realize that, by design, this is a departure from Seven Nations, but it lacks the power and energy of the entire band. The vocals are restrained or weak - not soft. Read more
